On we go, through the front-loaded part of the campaign, with a midweek trip across the Pennines for what, in all likelihood, will be our last opportunity to visit Bootham Crescent before the 'Minstermen' move out of town.
We travel there in a bit of form, too - eh?! Post your pre/post-match guesses and thoughts here...

Hmmmm the clouds are parting, the mists are clearing and I can see...
Stephenson to be the last person on the team bus because he couldn't find his lucky socks at home. Maccy to decide that he needs a wee as he passes Hartshead Moor services and has to hold it for anther 23 minutes until the next services. Gazza to be in 2 minds weather to go and play pool in the pub again or stay at home until "her in doors" tells him he IS staying in!! The game to kick off 2 minutes late due to a Jack Russell chasing a seagull around on the pitch. Warburton to tell their centre half "you're sh*t" in the 17th minute and then get brought down by him in the 21st minute for a penalty! County to win 0-2

anyway, it's 23 mins to excelby services, which i'd never heard of; and it turns out to be a lorry park, so unless maccy's travelling across with ben hinchliffe, another 8 mins later he can go to ferry bridge instead...

It'll be interesting to see how many players Jim rotates for tonight's game. I've never really understood why the season starts with so many games so close together in this division. Seems unfair on the part-time sides, increasing the risk of injury during the stage when players are still building fitness. It's not like the season doesn't start early enough -- the first game of the summer's big test cricket series has only just finished!

I think at our level the season starts so early and includes plenty of midweeks in anticipation of plenty of postponements over winter. It's probably less dangerous for the players to be playing twice a week now when they are fresh and on good pitches, rather than doing the same on heavy or frozen pitches in the middle of Feb which aren't fit for purpose.

Never change a winning side...well, that's the saying. After last season's 6-0 drubbing of Southport, we kept the same team (and diamond system?) in the next one and it didn't go too well.
That said, Mulhern, Stephenson and Warburton weren't on for the whole game so may well be able to put in another big effort tonight.
Perhaps the bigger concern in terms of energy levels may be in midfield as both Turnbull and Walker put in big shifts - Dimaio seems more attacking and to get Keane into midfield obviously changes the CB pairing.
I don't know how fit York are at the moment but was surprised as their levels at EP last season being below ours, even as a pro side. I guess their prep rest since the opener won't have been too different unless thy were in on Sunday?
Having lost their opener, obviously there's more pressure on them to win and hopefully we can exploit that with some good counter-attacking.
Most players were here last season so should understand the different approaches JG has - hopefully we're tougher mentally too which might cure the lack of resilience away from home last season.

Listened to last night's game on Player. Very tough fixture on a Tuesday night, not a disgraceful result but a couple of worrying factors. First, it sounded like our young, lightweight players got pushed about by a stronger and more experienced team. Second, it sounded like we resorted to playing long balls forward over and over again, even though we had zero chance of winning one. Those two factors were what made the playoff game against Chorley so disappointing: we never looked good enough.
Also bad news about Duxbury. Hopefully it's just a knock.

That was a fairly depressing evening. An even first half followed by...nothing. York stepped it up in the second and we completely failed to respond. We allowed York to win balls they had no right to win, when we had opportunity to pass we gave it away, we weren't supporting the man on the ball, no movement off the ball such that we were left lumping it down the field and hoping for the best. A poor team performance and several poor individual performances with the midfield completely overrun in the second half. The only good thing is that the players have an early opportunity to put some of it right at Southport on Saturday.
