Happy Easter everyone! Welcome to what, at the time of writing at least, promises to be an unseasonably chilly Easter Monday encounter at EP.
Most of you will be aware that (if things went to plan) two days ago, myself and a group of other Heaveners walked from Edgeley Park to Macclesfield in aid of KidsCan, a local children’s cancer charity. I would like to take this opportunity to thank not only those who joined me on the walk, but everyone who has generously donated – our target was to raise £1,000 and, at the time of writing, we are well on our way to hitting it.
Of course, when I selected our destination at the end of last year, I had banked on Easter Saturday being, generally, quite warm. This, it transpires, is not going to be the case. In fact, if no one has heard from Maccy or I since Saturday, we’d be much obliged if you could notify the authorities!
In other news: Big Fudge’s Big Interviews have made a welcome return to County Heaven, and this time our intrepid reporter caught up with Michael Raynes for an interesting Q&A; Tony Dinning is our latest entrant into CHIEF; and, bizarrely, we’ve been contacted by several disgruntled Bolton fans who seem intent on visiting EP next season rather than the Reebok!
Lastly, a few of us were lucky enough to meet County’s Norwegian super-fan prior to the Newport game, and we’re delighted he managed to see a win at EP at the ninth time of asking! I thought I was daft.
Speaking of daft...

Daft? I’ll give you daft! How crazy is it that County are not marking this weekend’s festivities with a recall for Joe Bunney?! Rumours of his return have...erm, clearly been eggs-aggerated.
But seriously...
We submitted our last notes so promptly as to be ahead of the news about Ian Bogie’s arrival, and were therefore unable, alas, to extend our welcome to him before Newport’s visit here. Today, however, we can go one better than that, and also congratulate him on securing a victory in his first game at the managerial helm - as well as County’s first points on home turf in five attempts. County Heaveners wish you every success at EP, Ian.
Because of the tight holiday fixtures-schedule, we write in hope that, by the time you read this, the team achieved a positive result at Macclesfield - and that yours truly has regained the bragging rights in his neighbourhood! Sandy and I were also chuffed to be asked to contribute a piece in our local rivals’ programme, on that occasion, too.
Our visitors this afternoon are enjoying a strong campaign, but have rather faltered of late – and will be desperately disappointed after losing the FA Trophy on penalties. I do have a slight soft spot for Grimsby, who provided the opposition here a few winters back when a then-toddling Macc Junior was Match Mascot. County recorded a resounding 3-0 victory on that occasion – much to my and the little un’s delight – and a repeat along those lines (whether resounding or not) would do us very nicely, thank you...and, of course, please!
Enjoy the game – and add your voice to the sound of the crowd.
