Great race - F1 is so much better when the conditions are treacherous!
Supreme drive from Lewis in the wet - I think he ended up doing 50 laps on a set of inters.

How Grosjean walked away from that is a miracle. If that was twenty years ago there's no way he'd have survived that, which is a huge testament to the safety measures that were fought for and implemented against some seriously stubborn opposition - a huge vindication of the commitment and conviction of those responsible. He's a very lucky man. Thank goodness he escaped with minor injuries.
Credit, too, to drivers from days of yore like Jackie Stewart, who tirelessly campaigned for safer conditions after dicing with death every time they themselves got into their cars.

Horrific accident but great to hear Grosjean escaped with only minor injuries. He’s a very lucky boy but it is testament to how far safety in F1 has come.

There have been a few lucky escapes in relatively recent times, with Kubica at the Canadian GP being one of the most remarkable, where you could actually see his feet poking through the end of what was left of his monocoque - he was lucky not to lose any limbs.

He actually returned to Canada the following year and won - now that's one gutsy driver!

"Mercedes did not have to pit their cars, but chose to do so in what was intended to be a safety decision.
But they put the wrong tyres on Russell's car and then could not fit a new set to that of his team-mate Valtteri Bottas, who had to have his old tyres fitted back on to his car.
Russell had to stop again the next time around to fit a correct set, and the Mercedes were now down in fourth and fifth places, Bottas ahead."
I'm sure there's no way this had anything to do with Mercedes not wanting some of Hamilton's 'greatness' being attributed to their unstoppable car.

I think the stewards need a word with both Max and Lewis before the last race of the season this weekend.
The championship needs to be won on the track rather than in a first corner shunt and the lawyers offices some weeks later.

If Verstappen aims to take Hamilton out and win by default this weekend, then he's no champion in my book. As you say, though, Lennie - the same goes for both of them. I personally don't think it'll be a clean win, for either driver, with the finale being a total bust as a spectacle. I hope I'm wrong.

Stunning drive from Fernando Alonso in Bahrain today, getting his Aston Martin to third on the podium in his first race for the team.
He really is one of the great drivers for me, and could have held his own in any era. He can get the absolute best from any car, no matter how good or bad and at 42 he's still as accomplished as ever.
Great drive from a great driver.
