Excellent assessment there, H - thanks for putting that together. Sometimes things don't work out for a player, but I'm sure that - along with Minihan's imminent return - his week-to-week contract would have been a factor with Jim possibly looking to free up wages for further additions elsewhere - making the decision to release him an easier one. I wish him the best of luck wherever he ends up.

From JG's interview (posted on Maidenhead thread), BM asked if he could leave on Thursday so he could play elsewhere tomorrow. No contact from the other club's manager... so assume Curzon!

I worked on the clues that CA's assistant manager and BM had started following one another on social media and JG mentioned the lack of courtesy from their manager!
Anyway, Curzon play all the teams currently in the top 7 spots so hopefully he'll do an outstanding job for them (and us)!

Going off the guest appearance on binny's podcast, McKenna seems to be bellyaching a little too much about the manager, so it's no wonder he's asked/been allowed to leave.

Yes - I wondered about the wisdom of his words when I heard them at the time, matey. It would not be the first time that a Hatter's days have been numbered after speaking out of turn with Jim at the helm! That said, I feel equally sure that other factors are also in play on this occasion. McKenna has enjoyed little security whilst on a rolling monthly contract, and I think he felt especially vulnerable when he saw how abruptly Mantack's season was brought to an end on Boxing Day. Additionally, any chance of more regular starts - which Curzon, presumably, are offering him (just as they have done with Sam Walker) - will inevitably appeal more than constant bench-warming. A pity for us, as he proved an excellent impact player in the later stages of some games. Genuinely smashing guy, too. But at the level we now find ourselves, sadly (and I do mean sadly), such players probably amount to too much of a luxury...

He does sound like a genuinely good lad, but as you rightly say - he had to go elsewhere for more security. I do think that had he not asked to leave, he would have been told to - especially after that interview. Good luck to him, though, I hope he proves Jim wrong - just not at his/our expense.

Agreed, matey. At least, with our now having played Curzon twice, he won't come back to haunt us in the short term - and, hopefully, he may help to do us the odd favour against certain play-off candidates!

Adam Thomas signs a new deal that keeps him at County until the end of next season: www.stockportcounty.com/adam-signs-new-deal-edgeley-park/Delighted for him. After spending practically the whole of last term on the sidelines, he has worked his socks off to get back to full fitness - and his most recent performances have been exemplary. Smashing guy, too - not to mention a handy emergency right-back!

On a serious note, absolutely brilliant securing him and Warburton for another season. Both have shown that they are two of the best in their positions at this level which is a decent 'eligibility criteria' if putting together a hybrid approach!
