A thread for us to use over the Summer - and, no doubt, beyond - as news comes in about players who are staying, arriving and departing for next season.
I have posted in parallel a 'locked' squad list, which will be kept updated for reference as and when the positions of individuals become known.

Oops, yes - the 'second Sam' should have been Connor Hampson! Now duly corrected.

The total lack of a striker section is a very telling point

Someone posted on the Conference North page on FB that a 'reputable source' had said Sefton Gonzalez had turned down the offer of a contract.
I can only assume this was a joke, unless it was a window cleaning contract.

Looks like CMW is on his way. No great surprise there then.

agree sandy. thought sefton really needed to grasp the nettle with us this time. he has been falling through clubs for two seasons and it's hard to see where he goes from here. i thought his initial performances when he came back were really good, albeit without a cutting edge, but he seemed to fade so quickly.

Agreed, the lad clearly has ability and is a clean striker of a ball... He's shown that in a couple of the goals he's scored this season.
What I've found most disappointing, is that his fitness amazingly seems to have deteriorated over the season, and I'd suggest he's at least a stone and a half overweight (as is Amis).
I understand you're going to get players carrying a few extra pounds in part time non-league football, but when you're being paid a very good part time wage and you can't even be bothered to get/keep yourself in shape it takes the p*ss for me.

Personal responsibility has to come into play as a part time footballer. No amount of skill will get you around a pitch for 90 minutes.

just reading jan molby's autobiog. while he was a rare exception to the rule, there are a number of commenters in there, including kenny dalglish, who thought he could have had a more successful career had he taken better care of himself.

The potential of a slimmer Molby is open for debate, but it's not a given he would have been any better than he was, which was one hell of a footballer. A classic example of Molby doing what he does best was in the 1992 FA Cup Final v Sunderland. He just parked himself in the centre circle and ran the show from there - absolute class player. Okay, the Black Cats were in the championship at the time but they were still a decent side. Do you remember that old 90 Minutes magazine running Scooby Doo ending gag about Jan Molby, ars? That was just brilliant!

JP Pitman has been released by Harrogate Town. Maybe worth giving him a trial. Scores goals but not prolific. Played in League One and has been around Conference North for a season or two.
