Greetings from Edgeley Park for County’s third match at home in a row, and welcome to our visitors from Nuneaton.
Since the publication of our last notes, we have witnessed a disappointing defeat and an uplifting victory - against Mansfield and Forest Green, respectively - and, of course, a managerial change further to Jim Gannon’s departure in the wake of the earlier game.
Given that Sandy and I contribute to County Life on behalf of a fans’ forum, we felt we could not possibly let today pass without acknowledging, or paying a collective tribute from CH to Jim for, his efforts over the last year or so, whilst acting as Manager here for a second spell. For a good few of our number, he was a reason for deciding to follow - or, more recently, reviving an interest in - County, and, for all of us, he inspired some of the Club’s best moments to savour. Ever.
County Heaven thanks you, Jim.
Whatever the feelings (and these will be many and varied) that we may have as supporters, though, the job is now to be continued without him. It is a massive one, and we face a tough test today courtesy of opponents, who, like us, will be intent on scrambling clear of the relegation zone. Get behind our players, Darije Kalezić and his management team. Let’s show them the power of the support from County’s ‘Twelfth Man’.
Oh, and if you find yourselves near the Club Shop, check out County Heaven’s very own engraved brick!

Thanks, Maccy.
For those of you who aren’t yet familiar with County Heaven (shame on you), you may not be aware that we hold annual awards, the winners of which for last year have recently been announced. I had intended to honour the lucky winners in the Forest Green programme, but it was scaled down due to the game being played at short notice and so, sadly, our article never saw the light of day.
However, I’m not one to allow achievement to go unnoticed, and since it is only right that our winners are given the acclamation they so richly deserve, I propose to repeat the winners here (lazy journalism, moi?). So, without further ado, I give you the highlights of the County Heaven Awards 2012:
*County Heaven Player of the Year – Danny Hattersley
*Best Thread of the Year – “Football-related Films You Would Pay To See”, directed by Lennie
*Funniest Heavener – another_ruined_saturday
*Best Admin – g_t_s
*Most Controversial Moment – Downy deleting his account and then coming back
*Best CHAOS (County Heaven Anecdotes Of Sport) Story – Sirius Jnr’s account of our last game in the Football League (for now).
Last, but not least, the coveted ‘Heavener of the Year 2012’. This man needs no introduction...but he’s having one. His text broadcasts from home and away games have kept those who couldn’t be there informed far quicker than the BBC or Sky Sports. Ladies and gentlemen, my good friend, Hatter In Maccnificent.
Sadly, we’ve run out of time for Maccy’s acceptance speech because Blur are due on any minute, but to check out the full awards (and perhaps win one next year), sign up to County Heaven!
Enjoy the game.
