Good evening everyone.
Due to my being in hiding over the festive period (hopefully I’ve been forgiven for the Christmas quiz by now?), this is the first article I’ve written in 2013. The decorations have come down at CHHQ and we’ve finished off the last of the mince pies, but the celebrations aren’t over as it will shortly be our second birthday!
The New Year has seen an influx of interesting topics cropping up, not only discussing all things County on and off the pitch, but also in our ‘Off topic’ section which is where our more ‘troubled’ members are to be found. We’ve had threads ranging from ‘misheard song lyrics’ (what do you mean it’s not ‘Poppadum Preach’ by Madonna?) to ‘lies that you were told as a child’. Fudgie still to this day can’t lie, pick his nose or pull a silly face (well, sillier than the one he was born with). Speaking of Fudgie, everyone at CH would like to welcome him back to Blighty. Sadly his Canadian adventure was cut short, but their loss is County’s gain.
Some things never change though as the ‘football films you’d pay to see’ thread has passed the 3,000 posts mark, meaning it has now overstayed its welcome more than Bruce on ‘Strictly’. And on that bombshell, I shall pass you over to someone who is largely to blame for that...

What’s that you say, Sandy? Oh alright, if you insist...here’s one hot off the film-buffs’ thread:
Q. Steve McQueen, back in 1971, enters a day-long car race to locate County’s opponents for this evening...or could it be their French Twin Town?
A. ‘Le Mans’-field!
Ah well, please yourselves...
A warm welcome to our visitors, who tonight could have been travelling further west than SK3, had they secured the FA Cup replay that – as all of the football world bar the red area of Liverpool would agree – their recent Third Round effort surely deserved. Mansfield, despite defeat, were a real credit to the BSP that afternoon, and will give us a stern test as they now focus attention on making the most of their several games in hand with a view to getting into the play-offs mix.
For County of late, it’s been a case of “don’t worry if you dislike the result...there’ll be a different one along in the next few days”! Since our last notes, we’ve seen a Boxing Day defeat (Hyde) and a draw (Telford) here, whilst, away from EP, there has been a long overdue win (Hyde again), a rather less pleasurable reverse (Cambridge) and a wet-weather postponement (Gateshead). Keeping this pattern of different outcomes going suggests, without doubt, a home victory tonight. Remember where you heard it first!
Enjoy the game.
