Have torn myself away from the post-match sponsors' shindig to bring you, dear Heaveners, our article from this afternoon's programme.
(Ok, so we were sent on our way around 6pm - but never let it be said that I let myself be distracted in the course of duty...

Afternoon, everyone - and, although it feels ridiculously late to be saying such things, Happy New Year!
Hopefully, against ‘The Stutes’ from Histon, we will at least prevent a hat-trick of Saturday postponements. Not content with putting paid to our hosting of Vauxhall Motors a fortnight ago, the rain again wreaked its vengeance last Saturday before the trip to Guiseley - which, remembering our other similarly-aborted West Yorkshire fixture at Bradford Park Avenue on New Year’s Day, suggests that someone up there in ‘God’s Own Country’ doesn’t like us very much!
To learn that the VM match had been called off was especially disappointing, given the healthy, unbeaten run of form that County were enjoying at the time - and, indeed, stretching back from when we penned our last notes, ahead of Oxford City’s visit here shortly before Christmas, up to and including what was, in every sense, a most timely Epiphany at the home of Gainsborough Trinity.
County’s two most recent games, both away from EP, have rather gone from the sublime to the ‘oh gor blimey’ - with that inaugural ‘double’ of the season, and a first travelling five-goal haul in nearly seven years, against Trinity being followed by the rain-lashed defeat of ten men in Hednesford. Let us hope - weather and pitch permitting! - that we can bounce straight back from the latter this afternoon.
What’s occurring in Heaven, Sandy bach?!

Oh. Maccy, alright? I won’t lie to you, it’s been busy as it goes (although I thought we agreed to only dig out the Welsh/Gavin & Stacey phrasebook when our opponents were actually Welsh. (Oh God, they’re not are they? Has my geography let me down again?!...))*
As my esteemed co-writer has pointed out, the home game against Vauxhall Motors was frustratingly postponed, making our article somewhat out of date by the time it (hopefully) reaches the masses early next month. Just pretend you read that one first, ok?
County Heaven has been busy of late, although with little football to grab our attention, the Games Room has proved particularly popular. New recruit Epworth Hatter marked his Limerick Lounge debut with victory, although he isn’t doing so well in the Prediction League where Downy is again leading. I think we’ll all be glad when his leg is better and he hasn’t got so much time on his hands…
The Games Room has also seen the addition of The Italian Job, which involves players adopting Serie A teams and fighting it out to see who gets caught by the Polizia and who ‘escapes’ with the gold. It’s too late to join in now, but if you sign up to County Heaven soon you might be in time for the sequel – No Spain, No Gain!
Lastly, the Admin Team have recently ensured that all members are ‘advert-free’ when viewing the site – so there’s yet another reason (as if you needed one) to sign up and take part! After all, it’s free to join and everyone is welcome!
Enjoy the match.
*I’m joking, I know Histon is near Cambridge… right?
