Supporters Cooperative and the Community Foundation Link Up for Festival. Word is slowly beginning to spread about what an excellent job the Stockport County Community Foundation do under the watchful eye of Foundation Manager Dave Wardle. The Foundations work may not be too widely known but it is very much acknowledged and appreciated by the schools in Stockport who benefit from same every year from the services provided. Additionally , the work of the Foundation and the Stockport County Supporters Cooperative does not immediately strike as being inter connected, but our paths have crossed , however briefly, at such community events as the Hatters Half Marathon ( at which the Foundation did valuable work on the day)and the inaugural `County Carol Concert’ at Edgeley Park, which was such a great success. The need for a combining of talents therefore , however temporarily, was obvious, and after talks over recent weeks the Foundation and the Cooperative’s newly expanded ( from 2 to 6) Events Team, have been discussing just how such a `coming together’ might usefully happen. Happily an event has been identified to kick start this excellent cooperation, and it combines the Foundations work with young pupils with the Cooperative’s successful running of 5 A Side Football Tournaments ( which the Foundation won last time out). So the Cooperative’s expertise at running successful 5 A Side Tournaments for adults, can now be put to good use in collaboration with the Foundation on a 5 A Side Festival for youngsters, which will take place at the Stockport Power League throughout the day on Tuesday 2 November 2017. For more information on Stockport County Community Foundation, go to.... www.scfcfoundation.com/Wellspring Food Appeal. On the notional last day of County’s season( give or take a play off game or two) , Saturday 29 April, the Supporters Cooperative will be in the Cheadle End Cabin from around 1.15 until 2.45 collecting for the Wellspring – the magnificent charity that looks after the homeless people of Stockport so very well! The Wellspring are short of food items, so if you can come to the rescue by donating any of the following, dropping them off at the Cabin before the game on the 29th, that would be very much appreciated. The items needed are canned foods…..(meats for sandwiches, fish, beans, fruits etc),tea, coffee, sugar etc. Members Meeting- 30 April 2017. The following day, Sunday 30 April 2017, we will be holding a Members Meeting in the Spinning Top( next to the Garrick Theatre on the A6) starting at 6pm . Items on the agenda will include a presentation, by Cooperative Board Member John Giles, on the Guardian Account. The meeting should be an interesting one, and it is open to none members also, and we look forward to welcoming you. Friday 21 April- Stockport County Blues v Greys in top of table clash at Edgeley Park. This Friday, 21 April, a significant match takes place at Edgeley Park ( kick off 7.45). A great game is in prospect with the Blues poised to top the league table , so why not head off to Edgeley Park and help a County team win some silver wear! In addition....Help the Hatters will be providing free refreshments in the Legends Lounge , so this will be an ideal chance for fans to enjoy a cuppa and also take a look at the magnificent `County Museum' in the Legends Lounge. The Spinning Top was the venue that the Supporters Cooperative chose at which to seek members views on proposals regarding the likely focus for the Guardian Account going forward. After the Cooperative Vice Chair Dave Marchbank's introduction, the floor was cleared for Coop Board man John Giles to deliver a presentation. This is a link that will take you to the slide show used in the presentation.... www.dropbox.com/sh/vyi04qstol3ctnb/AAAGNYSqZmT1YuBf4u-vZFIXa?dThe Chair then invited questions and a lively, but wholly constructive, exchange ensued. This second link will take you to an audio recording of the whole proceedings. www.dropbox.com/s/n99c0j6w18impah/170430_003.MP3?dl=0Salient points are .... Audio length 97 mins......Mins 1 to 11= Introduction....11 to 47.22 the presentation......47.23 onwards = questions. After fulsome discussion, the meeting unanimously agreed to support the proposal that the focus for the Guardian Account be Edgeley Park. We hope that you will find this newsletter of interest, and will be as enthused as we are about the Guardian Account and its future direction. Stockport County Supporters Cooperative.
