I don't really have an opinion on Montreal and I'm not in to music at all so don't really have an opinion on that either so will have to be Mislabelling of Stockport, It really does annoy me when we get called Mancs and although it is nice to educate people about this, it has to go in the vault for me.

Well said, benno. It annoys me as well - speaking, of course, as a naturalised, rather than a born-and-bred, Stopfordian. And - do you know what? - I have also been listening to tracks from the new albums by One Direction, Little Mix and Justin Bieber. I will probably get stones thrown at me for saying so - but, listening entirely without prejudice, none of them is actually half bad! No, really... With no particularly strong view about Montreal to speak of, I have to vote for the Mislabelling of Stockport.

Has to be Modern Music, given that 'modern' means anything that was recorded and released originally as digital.

we have already had one from a band named 'Garbage'... Quite. one of the horrors that happened when alternative stuff went overground at the start of the nineties, was that there were loads of fundamentally dull bands who came through who very much had an 'eyes on the prize' stance, albeit in a vaguely 'alternative' style. thus you have garbage, keane, the killers, and countless others who are fundamentally two dimensional. it's like a co-opting of some of the colour of what i like, with none of the subtle shading. i find that most painful of all, and like getting into the house and finding you've trodden sh*t in with you.

it was ever thus. in my teens it was formulaic, packaged stock, aitken and waterman sh*te. Good point, ars. The diffference these days is that they televise the auditions. Who'd have thought that pub-standard karaoke would become a huge TV event!

The thing that pi**es me off most about that crap, is that Mr flat-top-botox-veneer Grinning b*st*rd clearly hand picks the contestants he knows will make it to the business end, before the 'auditions' begin. He just scatters them among the rabble at various locations throughout the UK and then lets the seals in the audience clap for fish until the chosen ones get to the latter stages. It's even worse than that, gazza. He clearly gives the other so-called expert judges a script for each act. As if Cheryl and Grimes know what is going on - and no way is Cowell going to let them have an opinion. A sham from start to finish.

Got to put my vote in for modern music. There is still some good stuff about but it seems few and far between.

Can't really say that I worry too much about any of these, but reading all the other posts got me thinking I really do hate "Flop Factor" and for that alone I shall vote for modern music!

A convincing win for manufactured modern music.
