Greater Manchester WF League - Over 65s May
Blackpool 0 Kingsmaid 2 (Battered again - another goal from their "guest" player, International centre forward from ............Redcar) probably the best goal ever hit past me at Heywood. 20 yard volley in off the crossbar and post. First goal was bad marking from a corner).
Blackpool 2 Fleetwood 1 (Good come back after going a goal behind from another corner !! They had a late penalty disallowed) Blackpool 0 Purple Panthers 0 (Played each other to a standstill fair result I suppose. We missed a penalty) Blackpool 0 Salcom (Salford) 0 (For the third time could have played for a whole week and neither side would have scored)
Fleetwood 3pts Kingsmaid 12pts Salcomm 4pts Blackpool 5pts Panthers 4pts
To be confirm along with new league positions.
Edit
Kingsmaid +12pts total 31 Fleetwood +3pts total 17 Salcomm +4pts total 15 Blackpool +5pts total 12 Panthers +4pts total 6
Amusing part of the day was while we were watching the Kingsmaid vs Panthers game. A heavy tackle on the edge of the box resulted in a penalty for Kingsmaid and a straight red card for the Panthers defender (goal scoring opportunity denied). The defender was not amused and refused to give his name to the referee as he walked off. He asked the player for a second time so I broke the ice by shouting out "Don't tell him , Neil". It worked and the mirth brought a difficult situation back to earth. I have my uses.
The MANCHESTER Kingsmaid team this time consisted of players from, Kendal, Tranmere, Carlisle, Redcar (x2) and this time DUMFRIES !!!!!!

I don't even play and that Kingsmaid bunch irritate the s**t out of me, Banksy. Let them get on with it, at least your team play with integrity and honesty. They just seem like a gang of d**k heads to me.
At least you got the second best points haul behind those dodgy buggers, mate. I know which team I'd be proud to turn out for!

Agreed Gazza. They haven't broken the rules but have destroyed the spirit of the division.
All other 4 teams are very similar and all capable of beating each other on the day. Let them sod off to League 1 and World Domination.
New League table now edited.

England 65s vs North West England 60's at Salford Sports Village
Played 4 games, won three games 1-0 each and drew one game 0-0. I played two full games in the 0-0 draw and a 1-0 victory.
The North West were a very good, physical side (I knew all of them) so we did well to come out on top overall. It's now 22 games undefeated since the 65s squad was assembled.

Inter League Competition at Leek Town (smashing 4G facility). Over 65's
Greater Manchester League 4 League of Wales 1
Six "quarters" of 15 minutes on a very warm Cheshire day. GM took the lead in the first session only to be pegged back in the second. We then took a half-time 2-1 lead (fully deserved). Two 0-0 quarters were then played out before GM took full control in the last period to run out comfortable winners.
Pleased with my own performance to keep us in the game before and after half-time "saving" the best for the cameras at the main stand end. Having said that we had 3 disallowed goals and 7-1 would not have flattered us.
Bad day all round for the Welsh then ! Four of their guys are avid Wrexham supoporters.

Greater Manchester League Over 60s June - Division 2
Blackpool 1 Bolton 0 Blackpool 0 Fleetwood 2 Blackpool 0 Man Corinthians 0 Blackpool 0 Preston 1
Final Table Fleetwood 31 pts Preston 25 Blackpool 21 Bolton 15 Man Corinthians 13
Congratulations to Fleetwood on the title. Wonderful achievement considering that they had just 1 point after the first series of 4 games. We go again in the Autumn season in September.
I didn't play this month due to family commitments but I thought you would like to know how the season ended.

WFA Over 65's 3rd Round
Blackpool FC Senior Seasiders 0 St Helen's 1
Played at AFC Fylde (Kirkham).
A well drilled St Helen's defence held out throughout the game despite Blackpool enjoying 65-70% possession. The goal came as the Seasiders pushed forward trying to end the game in normal time.
A quick break caught our defence out and a well struck shot curled in via both posts (!) to settle the game. Pool had enough of the ball and sufficient chances to win this and go through to the NW Final Round.
Well done to St Helen's and we wish them well as they progress in the competition.
