On the 2nd Day of Christmas my true love gave to me: two turtle doves.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles or Lonesome Dove?
Yep, Day 2 tenuous link is songs from movies for TV programmes.
What are your favourite songs from films or TV? - for TV it could be theme tunes or adverts. Don't forget to tell us where it's from and any stories behind the songs or movies/TV.
Some starters...
Don't You Forget About Me - Simple Minds (Breakfast Club). Still love this song, even if the brat pack movie hasn't aged that well.
I Spy - Pulp (Mission Impossible). Obvious song title, but not an obvious band to appear on this Holywood blockbuster. We love watching this film as a family.
Moon River - Audrey Hepburn (Breakfast at Tiffany's) Classic song, classic film, classic actress.
Johnny B Goode - Chuck Berry (Back to the Future). Of course.
Oh Yeah - Yello (Ferris Bueller’s Day Off)
Pretty in Pink - Psychedelic Furs (Pretty in Pink)
Where You Lead - Carole King (Gilmore Girls) - back on our TV being watched my my wife and daughter. Good wholesome telly - different times.
White Christmas - Bing Crosby (Holiday Inn) Be rude not to!
So, over to you.

Do You Believe by Ian McCulloch, Simon Boswell & Alex James from 'There's only ones Jimmy Grimble'
Great movie and a great song, that was used at various points in the movie.
It's just a really good film with a cool soundtrack, about a kid who thought he had magic football boots, and if you've never seen it, then I highly recommend it.

Probably forgotten by most but the 1989 TV series, The Justice Game starring Dennis Lawson, featured Waterfront by Simple Minds. You can all access the song so here's a trailer for the show including the signature riff.

Personal favourite for me. Played at my retirement concert by our Primary School Brass Band. 50+ children past and present with a great rendition.

THE very best theme tune ever !!! Kemosabe. Memories of early TV in black and white.
Note to self - never, ever play the William Tell Overture as a piece of music in school assemblies.

Children's TV-wise... Inspector Gadget and Fraggle Rock are probably two of the memorable themes of things I watched. However, I think the latter is memorable mostly for us changing the words.
I have absolutely no memory of watching The Littlest Hobo but have an emotional reaction to the theme even now and was told I did as a kid too. It's a banger:
The Hollies 'He ain't heavy...' was being used for Miller Lite in the late 80s (reached #1 too) and that was one of the first songs I was aware of at the time as being an emotional gut punch, as was dad giving me Miller Lite as an 8-year-old.
On the flip side, one that absolutely won't make my list is the Crimewatch theme music. I would mute it until Nick Ross had clearly said a few sentences and I felt safe to unmute, although sometimes I unmuted too soon and the dreaded anxiety-inducing beat would be there to ruin my night's sleep. Murders I'm fine with, before you ask. Mastermind is just about tolerable but is bordering creep-me-out.
Other than that, Chariots of Fire, The A-Team (the rock guitar bit mostly) and various sport-related ones (Ski Sunday and Grandstand, anyone?) all spring to mind.
Oh, and to save everyone else mentioning it... Angry Anderson's 'Suddenly' for when Kylie and Jason were married in Neighbours must be a highlight of my u8 Stopfordian life so I'm sure it was one of your faves too?!!

Some proper old school TV theme tunes there, herm.
Weirdly, Ski Sunday is really evocative for me. I don't really know why we watched it as no one in our family skied and none of us were that interested in it!

I've a list to follow but I have to go into an explanation about the importance of Dick James who sang a number of TV themes. He went on to found Northern Songs with Brian Epstein, was a good friend of George Martin and his influence got the Beatles their first TV appearance on Thank Your Lucky Stars. Later, he was the force behind Dick James Music or DJM, the label that gave Elton John his big chance. His wiki is an interesting read. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dick_JamesProbably his best known theme was for Robin Hood. This video, bizarrely involving the Teletubbies, also has clips of the original show. History and social fashion has been less kind to his theme to The Gay Cavalier.

TV westerns were big in the 50s and 60s. Apart from Lennie's Lone Ranger, I remember watching and looking forward to the intro music to: Cheyenne Bronco Tenderfoot (Sugarfoot in US) The Cisco Kid Bonanza Laramie Maverick Gunlaw (Gunsmoke in US)
For me, the daddy in terms of theme tunes was Rawhide.
