itv have shown the two european cup winners docs (liverpool and forest) a couple of times recently. some priceless cloughie on there, and a rag-bag of cast offs, then a kid and a million pound player up front. didn't look sensible, but two european cups later...

John Robertson was the star of that team for me, mate, an absolutely brilliant winger with two great feet. Cloughie once made a remark about his portly figure, but then added: "Give him a ball and a yard of grass, and he was an artist.."

We are really enjoying watching The Repair Shop. Gentle on the eyes and brilliant watching pure craftspersons do their day job so lovingly. No fuss, no razzamatazz and crummy jokes or innuendos. I know what you mean Lennie, they transform some of the items and it's wondrous to see.
They just need to tone down the tears and save on tissues.

The Repair Shop - a very simple, genuine, concept done well. And it's nice to see real talent showcased on our screens.

ok. so i'm popping up with a load of things to watch, or ignore once upon a time in iraq on the beeb has been pretty good. all on iplayer. the docu about the england cricket team early this decade 'the edge' is very good and very candid for anyone with half an interest in cricket (i've only got a quarter of an interest in it and i still liked it). it's still on i-player at the moment. only discovered rick and morty a couple of months ago, and i quite enjoy a blast of its profane lunacy on more4 or c4 before bed. the lost honour of christopher jefferies which is repeated on itv the next two nights is very good for anybody that didn't see it originally a few years ago - the murder in bristol over christmas and he was chief suspect and targeted by the media, a large part of this due to him being a bit weird. is a dramatisation but was very good. and i've recorded and watched a bit of the derren brown stuff from yesterday. made me think about this: www.channel4.com/programmes/derren-brown-trick-or-treat/on-demand/42685-006i remember how brilliantly complete a horror i thought this was. what an absolute bastard. it's a waking nightmare, but not for the viewer of course, because the viewer was in on the brutal gag. haven't watched it in donkey's years but if the early 30's version of me is correctly remembered by the under-two-months-from-50 version, my mind was boggled at the sheer 360 degree scope of it.

At the time my lad lived not far from CJ in Clifton Bristol. The press really hounded Jefferies

Michael Sheen was brilliant as Cloughie and that is the ONLY reason for watching, because there are so many factual errors it really doesn't warrant any further attention than that.
John Giles successfully sued David Peace over the book it's based on, but Cloughie had passed away so was not around to defend himself.
Brian's sons were around him a lot at that time and know what really went on and what was bullshit, and they've called bullshit on a hell of a lot of the book, which the movie is based on.
Stay for the portrayal, go elsewhere for the truth.

Building a Spitfire Monday evenings on More 4. Superb. Is that the one they find buried on a beach? This one saw service in Greece and N Africa. They reunited a pilot 90+ years old with it. Apparently he flew it (reg number was in his pilot log).
