Less than a month since the last 'battle of the Countys' with Notts - but here we go again with it this coming Saturday at their place, weather permitting!

Not sure there would be a lot of benefit to me doing a full Who Are Notts County post since we met only a few weeks ago, however I couldn't help noticing that Notts have taken, on loan for the rest of the season, a Goalie from Fulham, none other than: Ex Hatter Luca Ashby Hammond!
Now that may be a first step to cutting down on the Goals conceded front but I suspect that their season-long trait of giving the ball away in MF or at the Back and their woeful defending will continue for some time to come, and all the better for us if they hand us a goal or two into the bargain.
Oh and Mansfield v FGR on Tue 16th Jan is off - frozen pitch, so County could/should still be top on Sat.
Meanwhile, elsewhere in L2 we have: 10th placed AFC Wombles v 11th placed Crawley - Postponed 4th placed Barrow v 5th placed Crewe 8th placed Gillingham v Rock Bottom FGR 3rd placed Mansfield v 23rd placed Sutton - Postponed 7th placed MKD v 16th placed Morecambe 17th placed Newport v 2nd placed Wrexham
A win for Wrexham could see them go top if County lose to Notts, but if County draw or win they stay top no matter what happens down in Newport.
Once you get below Crewe there are 13 teams within 10 points from Notts (in 6th) to Tranmere (in 18th), who have definitely picked up in recent weeks. Salford, in spite of a win last time out, still look potential drop candidates, as do Cole U and maybe even Donny. Still a long way to go, lots of potential permutations at both ends of the table, so keep those fingers crossed.

Bloody hell, that's us getting knocked off top spot unless Newport can avoid defeat at home to Reynolds Town FC.

On the positive side, there are no direct trains to Stockport this weekend for some reason.
Why is this significant, you ask? It's because I usually get the East Midlands train to Nottingham from Liverpool Lime Street on the weekend, which passes through Manchester, Stockport, Sheffield etc, so fans may have had a bit of a mission getting to and from the game today.

Bloody hell, that's us getting knocked off top spot unless Newport can avoid defeat at home to Reynolds Town FC. We're all Newport this afternoon, aren't we? C'mon, (Welsh) County! Whatever happens there, though, we shouldn't worry unduly. Wrexham have some 'previous' when it comes to feeling the pressure at the top, remembering the National League two seasons ago - and if they do go above us, they don't, due to their Cup involvement, have a match next weekend, so it may not be for long...

Interesting insight regarding frozen pitches from Bradford City's groundsman:

If Barrow get a draw that will be a perfect day. As it stands Crewe are on 50 points and Barrow 49. A draw would mean Barrow on 50 and Crewe on 48, with both having played one more game than us.
