Tickets for the final game of the season, at home to Hartlepool United, are set to go on general sale from 10am on Monday 17th April.
County advise buying in advance as early as possible, to avoid missing out!

Final day of the season comes Around with us still chasing the automatic place in front of the Sky Cameras. Focus on what's in front of you and not what's happening at Tranmere. Win our game 3 - 0 and what will be, will be.

Hmmm, so having condemned one old League rival to relegation County now finish their League campaign facing another old League foe, and putting the final nails in their League Two coffin and, of course, it is Hartlepool, who beat County 1-0 in the National League playoffs after the 2020/21 season, and their manager was DC so, ummm, yeah, some very mixed feelings about this one.
Anyway Hartlepool have struggled all year to a record of P 45 W 9 D 15 L 21 F 51 A 77. Their record on the road is also poor - P 22 W 4 D 5 L 13F 24 A 41. The Ws were Crawley T 0-2 - their first A win on 9th Dec, Rochdale 1-2 in the next game, Donny 0-1 and Grimsby 1-4 in April. The Ds were Colchester 1-1, Mansfield 2-2, Wombledon 2-2, Tranmere 1-1 and Bratfut 2-2. The Ls were Walsall 4-0 on opening day, Northampton T 2-1, Orient 4-2, Sutton 2-0, Harrogate 2-1, Swindon 2-1, Stevenage 1-0, Barrow 3-1, Gillingham 2-0, Carlisle 3-1, Crewe 2-0, Newport 2-0 and Salford 2-0.
All in all a very modest record with really only the Ds with Mansfield and Bratfut to shout about. They've been able to score a bit but keeping clean sheets has been a problem - only the 0-1 win at Donny and the 0-2 win at Crawley, over the whole season (on the road at least).
Top scorer is Josh Umerah with 12 in the League (15 in total), then MF Dan Kemp on 9 (including a HT in their win at Grimsby), followed by Connor Jennings on 5 in 17 games since joining from County. Then comes Jack Hamilton on 4 followed by 3 players on 3 each - Callum Cook, Wes McDonald and Jamie Sterry. A further 9 players have scored a further 11 goals.
County, of course, beat Hartlepool 0-5 back on Dec 3rd, with a brace from Wootton and goals from Madden, Camps and Collar.
All in all I suspect they might have a goal in them, maybe even from Jennings if the Irony Machine is working on the day. Really though, this is a game County should win, and handily, to at least send them into the playoffs on an up. Then again, games like this too often turn out to be a banana skin so keep those fingers crossed....

To be fair if the positions were reversed, we would equally pessimistic.

I take no pleasure in seeing them go down, as I said above they are an old rival, home to a fair few lower league battlers like Lenny Johnrose and Brian Honour (rumoured at one point to be a target for Danny Bergara) and I have fond memories of their fanzine Monkey Business.
That said, and without meaning to be arrogant in any way, there does seem to be a bit of a ceiling for clubs depending on the size of their hometown and presence of bigger rivals. The population of Hartlepool is estimated at around 90,000 making it the second largest town in County Durham. It is overlooked by Sunderland, Middlesoro and Newcastle. This must surely put a cap on how high the club can rise without being bankrolled by a big spender. This may well have been a factor in the demise of Darlo, and I well remember the grim days when Pool turned up at EP with a banner saying Gibson (their then "owner") is a thief.
I wish them well and for a swift return to the league, but I'm also thankful that County, overlooked of course by Cideh and Manure has, at least, a sizeable population to draw on, and a substantial backer. Fingers crossed we don't go back to the bad old days. Just look at Rochdale, Oldham and (especially) Bury and Macclesfield - County have been in several ways, very fortunate.
Which makes me wonder how many "Phoenix" clubs there in non-League - i.e. entirely "new" clubs, separate legal entities from the ones that were in the League - so the likes (if I remember right) of Darlo, Hereford, Macc, Bury, and many more I suspect... but that may be a good topic to follow up elsewhere.

We can add Chester to the list

Plus - from the post-war era - Aldershot, Bradford (Park Avenue), Gateshead, Halifax, Maidstone, Rushden & Diamonds and Scarborough.
In the League, Accrington, Newport, Wigan and Wimbledon are all 'new' versions of the now-defunct clubs that once plied their trade as FL outfits before dropping out at various times.

Quite a few County supporters were also wishing for a "death" and "rebirth" of the club as an alternative survival theory when we were only a few games off dropping into the Northern Premier.
Glad we didn't have to resort to that, now.

If this proves anything I would suggest that the economics of Football, at most levels, but more so the higher you go, just don't make sense.
No matter how many income streams a club can create and sustain, the the pressure to sign players (and pay their Agents) seems to lead only to higher wages. At least now the FA/FL take a meaningful interest in the bona fides of buyers, but I just can't see how Football Clubs can be sustainable financially without a dedicated, and deep-pocketed, owner.
