That’s a really good signing.
I’m really pleased for Ben Hinchliffe too. I really hope the four Conference North champions get to play in the football league. I don’t mean that to sound patronising but they deserve it.

He may be on a free, but this is a huge addition and one I'm particularly pleased about! Great signing!
Liam Richardson's interview really was irritating, though. Wootton himself offered a description of his style of play and how County getting the ball into the box early will suit him. Then, later on, Richardson asks him would County's style of play of getting the ball into the box suit him - these interviews are so 'on the rails' it's embarrassing.
He should have skipped that question as it had already been answered, but he seems completely unable to think on his feet.
He's pure YTS that guy, he's almost as irritating as Keighren.

The most interesting word in the press release about Kyle Wootton being signed was "first".
So without going overboard, and also recognising that nothing is guaranteed in this world, what other sorts of signings might we be expecting?
I suspect one might be an experience L1 or L2 GK to, at least back up and maybe challenge Hinchcliffe. Another might be a strong CH to take the place of Hogan and hold the defence firm: yes we have Palmer, Johnson, Kitching (although he seemed to prefer LWB rather than LCH), Keane, but CH seems to me to be a position ripe for injuries and suspensions so cover would be nice. Maybe another CM with a lot of running in his legs to provide injury/suspension cover for the likes of Croasdale, Collar and Sarcevic.
Anyway, so much for my ideas, what do others think?

I do wonder whether Ben Barclay may come in from the cold to help bolster our defensive options? He may not have overly impressed during the Rusk era last season - then again, who did? - but does have a good pedigree, and was a success on loan at Yeovil by all accounts.
One, possibly, over whom DC will be casting a particular eye in pre-season training...

Yes that's an interesting one because Barclay was a team mate of Will Collar at B&HA. So who knows maybe he could do a Collar next season and go from a bit of an outsider to one of the first names on the team sheet. I seem to remember that Yeovil thought quite well of Barclay when he was on loan there.
I suspect that Ben Whitfield may also be in line to play a greater part next season.
But, yeah, the way the press release says Kyle Wootten is the Club's first signing - so I suspect DC may be looking to make a few more - ZFA might be a good candidate given his track record with DC and he would strengthen the left side of defence. You can never have too many left-footed players for my money.
Andy Cannon would be nice.....
