Thanks for the link Downy. If you could also make our friends over at MB aware of the following please?:
I have this morning received a phone call from Ryan McKnight who has explained to me that, due to the club shop selling a number of books recently on an informal basis (i.e. not through the till), such as ours, Rodger's, Phil's etc. they did not want the money to get mixed up as they had various pots of cash to keep an eye on, so it was suggested it should be banked.
I still feel that those affected by this should have been informed (perhaps everyone else was?) but it was indeed a genuine error and was in no way intended to withhold the money from me. It should have been acted on sooner, and I stand by this, but it has only seemingly been brought to Ryan's attention this morning when print outs of this thread, and presumably the one from MB, were taken to him.
He confirmed when I spoke to him in the last half an hour that the money would be transferred to my bank account immediately (as I cannot make it to EP until the last game of the season now due to a holiday) and, sure enough, I've just checked online and it is there.
We have now raised £171.29 for the British Heart Foundation. I have 4 copies of the book left, and the club shop has 9. I offered to take them away to avoid further confusion in the future, but Ryan confirmed that they were happy to carry on selling it and I'd again like to place on record my thanks to the club shop staff for doing so (and for promoting it quite nicely in a glass case behind the till).
The original target was to raise £250 for the BHF which, once all books were sold, would have been the exact amount raised, but if the remaining 13 copies are sold at full price (£6.99) we will slightly exceed this and raise £262.16 thanks to some people paying a little bit more as an extra, and very generous, donation. Of course, for anyone still wanting one of the last few copies, any amount above the £6.99 price would be very gratefully received.
It is unfortunate that I had to start this thread in the first place, and perhaps I should have gone to Ryan directly first with my concerns before going public, but it was borne out of frustration and the concern that the money would be lost.
I did say initially that if I got an apology and the money, I'd consider the matter dealt with and would say no more about it and that remains the case so, as far as I'm concerned, that's the end of it. Hopefully the money for the remaining 9 copies won't be so hard to retrieve.
Thanks everyone, on both forums, for their support.
