The birthdays are really coming thick and fast this week! Today's celebrating Heavener is bringbacklenwhite - or Len/Lennie, as we all know him. As patron of the Limerick Lounge, he deserves nothing less than a greeting in rhyme - so, here goes: All the best on your big day, Sir Len; At an age now divisible by ten; This weekend we'll see; You here at EP; And Jevons will score with a pen. Have a good 'un, me old mucker!

Agreed, fudgie, and anyone who can rattle in hat-tricks like Jack Connor used to deserves the tag 'legend'!

I agree with Maccy - a limerick is surely fitting...
As you reach the age of three-score Making limericks could become quite a chore But not for our Len The finest of men Truly one from the CH top drawer!
Happy birthday big man - see you on Saturday!

You are all very kind (in word and thought).
I may be a year old but certainly not any wiser (else I wouldn't be coming to watch County on Saturday).
Fabulous day so far. All my friends consider me an alcoholic or chocoholic except my brother who is taking me to see City play Sunderland (he and his missus are season ticket holders and she will be working a shift that night - so spare ticket).
Tommy and Mrs Len just had their legs walked off and we all shared a sausage and onion sarnie (al fresco), now back for a quick rub down with a damp cloth (Tommy only). Will play some tunes on my new Sunburst Red Epiphone Dot 355 (direct copy of Chuck Berry's Gibson) - mega sound !!! Fish and Chips for tea from the National F and C champion shop in Thornton and a glug of Black sheep ale to wash it down with.
Then to apply for my rail pass in the morning.
Hope to see as many of you as possible in the Oak on Saturday (A copy of CHAOS under your arm will result in a drink over the bar for you). Sandy still has a few copies left.
PS started Walking football again, post op. I was banned from being in goal (as I have a tendency to dive for everything) and I was blown up for a foul if I crossed the half-way line !!! At least someone is looking out for me. We are organising a North West Walking Football Competition in August. Over 50's on Tour !!! Will keep you posted. I suggested we took up Sky's offer to go to Rio and take on that Lady's 5 a side team.

Sorry, Thought I had explain somewhere ! Tommy is our new Springer Spaniel rescue (Hendrick had to go back after destroying 4 towels, 3 cushions, 4 squeeky bones, a draught excluder and Mrs Len's Oven Gloves. His indestructible toy proved anything but and finally he went for me one night when he wouldn't go to bed ! He ran and hid when I put my coat on and picked the lead up (we think he had been beaten previously)and he hated travelling in the car (bending the wires of a travelling cage built for Police Dog Alsatians). Our social life would have been at an end). He is now with somebody who has land and other dogs to socialise him with. Tommy is 4 years old and from Ireland. He was bought as a companion puppy for an 86 !!!! year old gentleman who couldn't then cope with a big lad as he approached 90. We picked him up from a foster home Rhyader in Wales last week. If you go to www.englishspringerrescue.org.uk/ you will see him on the home page as the NWESSR "meeter and greeter" at Crufts 2 weeks ago. He has no recall but is very affectionate and food orientated and should be OK to re-train. A work in progress but he like walks and travelling, so we are on a winner. I will post a picture of him asap.

That's excellent news, Lennie, he looks a really nice dog. I'm glad to hear that Hendrick found a new home too. I'm sure Tommy will be trained up and pinching your socks in no time!
