Poignant comment..
One thing I admire of County is their resilience as a fan base. I’m not old enough to have been there but from what I gather speaking to fans of both of us the 2 clubs pre the late 80s were fairly similar. Low crowds of ~2k and low ambitions. Avoid re-election. Attempt the odd push to go up to div 3. Lose best players. Repeat. Both fairly tinpot. That they’ve largely maintained a healthy fan base from successes of 20 years ago is impressive considering how far they fell.

Looking forward to this one and it will be a good game to see where we are at. Apparently they think the state of the pitch is a leveller... Hoping we have more players back such as Kitching and Minivan.

There will be no replays in the Emirates FA Cup this season.
Should the game end in a draw, extra-time and penalties (if needed) will be required to determine the winner of the tie.

Looks like It'll be flashscore notifications for me, probably for the best as I tend to get awful nervous when listening to games on the radio for some reason.

You'll know the score before us streaming it due to the delay! I have to turn off the notifications from flashscore as they vibrate my phone about 30 seconds before the goal goes in!

"I’d also like to know why they think we’re bitter towards them. They’ve been a non-league non-entity for the past 15 or so years, fading from everyone’s memories and attention. I was genuinely surprised to see last week that they’re actually only one level below the FL, I thought they were still playing farmers and pub landlords."
Ooooh, still smarting from 2008, I guess?
Numbers are clearly not his strong point!

To be fair, though, YB aren't covering themselves in glory by the looks of things. #Bantz

Exciting match build up. All I can hear is status quo. Don't let me down.
As you can see Rochdale have really put alot of effort into this. (NOT).
Makes you appreciate JK and crew.

Excellent first half of football!
We started incredibly brightly, getting lots of pressure on them both on them in their final third with and without the ball. Kitching had an early right-foot attempt from outside the box which went over and within a couple of minutes Jennings had a shot saved after great work from Keane, Hogan and Thomas down the right. Within a minute a short corner routine saw the ball whipped deep to Palmer which caused them issues. From that corner they broke on us and got into our box, Croasdale breaking it up with an important intervention. And then it happened... Rooney got a foot in, stepped forward (still 50 yards form their goal) and whacked it over their stranded 'keeper. Expect 1 million views on social media. hah! And only 8 minutes had passed!
Around the 13th minute we worked yet another short corner routine, taking out the GJ with the change in angle and they failed to clear well enough. A brilliant feint from Jennings switched feet and his shot found Reid to prod home a second.
And then Rochdale got a grip on the game. We remember Newby from being Chorley's most difficult attacker to take care of (well, we couldn't in the NLN and we've struggled today too). He got down the right and dinked in a ball towards the backpost where they overloaded 3v2. A minute later and we had Ben to thank for some outstanding goalkeeping, quick off his line to snuff out the through ball into our box which was starting to become a theme due to our lack of midfield numbers to cope with their excellent movement off the ball. Hinchliffe was soon out again to deal with similar, taking his 3rd bit hit of the game from flailing challenges.
A couple of good breaks (Jennings and Reid) looked promises with Reid making 3 defenders back off him such is their worry at how fast he attacks them. That run led to a Rooney shot which ended with a corner and Reid had also dispossessed their CB and that ended with Reid having a snapshot. The final corner of the half saw us again use a short corner routine, this time opting to get Kitching driving towards the box to shoot left-footed. He almost scored through the bodies ith the 'keeper getting down sharp and saving with his foot.
Now that Kitching is sharing the work with Rooney on corners, the options have expanded considerably and a side 2 leagues above are really struggling to deal with them.
In the half JG switched shape and it's kept us able to compete. The HT organisation now will be critical because this is another level (well 2) above what we're used to defending against. Come on JG and the boys!
