Surely they should be kicked out for an ineligible player ?

Expulsion would have been the order of the day in previous seasons, Lennie - but the rules have been softened a tad for this term: www.thefa.com/-/media/thefacom-new/files/competitions/2020-21/fa-cup/rules-of-the-fa-challenge-cup-2020-21.ashx16 (c) However, where the club satisfies the Professional Game Board that the club (or any of its officers) did not know and could not reasonably have known, even had it made every reasonable enquiry (with the exercise of the utmost caution), that the player was ineligible, the club shall not be removed from the Competition but may still be subject to any other penalty (e.g. fine, ordered to replay the match).

JG completely screwing up their attempt to re-use the same tactics from the last game (front 3) by moving to a 4-4-2. They just didn't know what to do and even though they should have predicted we would play a back 4 to combat their 3, they wouldn't have guessed (as few would) we would go with a 'traditional' flat form 4-4-2 and play 3 lines. Obv. they've lost Tyson anyway but they're seemingly still not really sure what to do. I wonder how they'll approach the 2nd half.
Good mentality tonight: tempo, hardwork, dynamic movement with and without ball in each line, covering for one another, lots of talking and taking responsibility and Hogan has lead very well - very supportive to general positioning and discipline of the side. His ball use has been much better and he's crossed well.
Their best moment was probably when Rooney gave it away in midfield and they really should have scored from the attack. But he's clearly having fun being largely uncontested and when he was in a tight space in the box, he showed the most wonderful skill to get off a shot which led to Bennett's excellent finish for the first.
I'm pleased that Reid kept his composure for the 2nd - how often player have 'too much time to think' and mess it up. Jennings has done some pretty wonderful, technical stuff out there from the left flank - when #10s struggle, often JG will move them wider (as he did Warby) to try and bolster their confidence and let them see the pitch a bit more, away from the smother of the '#4' (who, incidentally, has been Chesterfield's best player).

Given the delay with the decision, do we think the lino thought Denton elbowed it over and then the ref kinda just went along with it? Seemed very bizarre!
