Behind closed doors, this one... which is ok really, as it will be a Tuesday-nighter and, moreover, we never beat Guiseley:

We should have another in between, a fortnight tomorrow. Watch this space...

I don't think Jim will be pleased if we don't win this match so there could be a lot resting on it. We appear to have a relatively solid defence but can't convert. I know it's early days and we are making the chances but just need to make them count.

We have never beaten Guiseley before. Would be nice finally to break that duck, even in a friendly... although we looked to be coasting there with a two-goal lead last pre-season, only to get pegged back late on!

We've one CDM in the squad (Keane) and as we seem quite likely to play all 3 CBs, and Keane is good cover there, maybe we'll still see a trialist midfielder in these remaining preseason games. Obviously J.Jennings is being given game time at CB in Stott's position but that's still one thing which could be strengthened.
Hopefully everyone comes through these remaining preseason games (and training) fit and ready for the busy first month.

It's time they installed 10 wheelie bins full of ice for post match player rehabilitation.

Impressive performance so far, total control of the game. It’s almost like watching football again after so long in the wilderness...

County look fit and organised, as a full time team should. Feels great to say that!
Hinchliffe, Keane, Palmer and Hogan is a very solid foundation, especially with Maynard and Rooney in front of them.
Connor Jennings and Williams could do a bit more IMHO. And I'm not sold on Bennett, but that might because I'm a Nyal Bell fan.

A first-half James Jennings hat-trick... What were the odds on that?!

It's always good when some of your goal-getters are on the scoresheet before the real business begins. Some set-piece deliveries had better accuracy tonight as well, and we varied play from CB positions, spotting and executing the direct ball (when Hogan hit Williams for the Bennett miss), bringing it forward and passing through the lines.
We got out of deep defensive areas with Hogan's throws and that looked a clear area which came from the training ground, getting the switch on rather than launching down the line.
Overall, no idea what Guiseley were thinking so hopefully the remaining games will be more competitive, even if 5 goals for is a lovely sight!
