I guarantee that wherever we are, be that EP or elsewhere, that within the next 20-30 years we will see a statue of that man outside the Jim Gannon Stand. If he gets us back into the Football League, that statue or at least some tribute should be nailed on, matey, because he'll have elevated himself above all previous managers by doing so - even Danny. To even get us back to within touching distance of League two from the clutches of regional football is nothing short of miraculous, especially when you consider that he didn't have the best budget in the division - that in itself has taken him level with the little man for me. I don't care how many times I say it or how many people are bored of reading it, but if it was up to me I'd give him the job indefinitely at County, because nobody gets us like he does and as he once said himself - he is one of us. Those responsible for sacking him in the past should be hanging their heads in f***ing shame.

(look, i've added big kev. any arguments? )

He's my favourite footballer ever, so how could I possibly disagree?!

Thirded... but might there be room on the plinth for Lil' Luis Cavaco, too? If there was anyone who saw that interview with him recently that didn't feel a lump in their throat when he said he felt "special again" at the end, they really need to check themselves for a pulse!

luis was fab, but if we open it up, i'm going to have to insist on kev cooper as well, both as a player and as -seemingly- an incredibly sound and humble lad. suddenly we'll have a rather crowded pantheon.

Coops, like Luis, is quite small, though. Sure they would both fit on...

So as we look to shed a lot of our players and bring in improved players take a look at our team from 2017 and the championship winning team last season, so both matches against Nuneaton. As we move onwards and upwards, where are our ex players playing now?

This is as far as I know now, Ceef, so could be wrong on some but I think....
Ben Hinchliffe - County Ian Ormson - Unattached Mark Ross - Chorley Sam Minihan - County Scott Duxbury - AFC Fylde Michael Clarke - Curzon Ashton Chris Smalley - Stalybridge Celtic Connor Hampson - Altrincham Courtney Meppen-Walters - AFC Telford United Lewis Montrose - Kidderminster Harriers Harry Winter - Trafford Harry Brazel - Cefn Druids Jimmy Ball - Solihull Moors Danny Lloyd - Salford City Kane Felix - Guiseley Josh Amis - Warrington Town Kayode Odejayi - Retired Sefton Gonzales - Colne
I'm not sure how accurate this is with the contracts all expiring any day now but with limited research and to the best of my knowledge, it's all correct!
Given some of the absolute wage-theives in that squad it shows just how impressive Jim managing to get us within a point of the Play-offs really was!

Says a lot that other than Hinchliffe and Minihan who are still with us, there aren’t too many that reached heights above where we finished this season. We are definitely heading in the right direction.
There are certainly a few wage theives in that lot, but also a few limited footballers that gave their best in a County shirt. Players like Clarke and Smalling I do remember fondly... that team was almost the first XI of our turnaround under JG. It took a few years to organically build a title winning team but there was a time that we were just grateful to stop the rot and arrest the decline.

Yeah, to be fair I have been a little harsh with some of them, as you say Smalley and Clarke were grafters, not the best defenders we'll ever sign but as you say the first group that sort of pushed us in the right direction. I've also got nothing bad to say about Big Kay or Ian Ormson both gave 110% and we're decent servants to the club.
The players I'm more refering to are the likes of Gonzales, Meppen-Walters and Winter etc. never that good and never had the right attitude for a Jim Gannon team.

Surprised Clarke is playing at Curzon and that CMW is at Telford. Smalley should be able to play NLN. As for Harry Brazell at Trafford, surprised FCUM didn't have him back. Maybe he had burnt the bridges.

It was Harry Winter from FCUM, Ceef! He did go back to them for a season. We had Harry Brazel on a dual contract with Winsford United, he now plays in the Welsh leagues as far as I can see.
