Just had to google him to see who he is.
His goals per game stats at Kings Lynn are certainly very impressive - at the age of 29 perhaps he is somewhat of a late bloomer in football terms who’s really started to weigh in heavily with goals over the last few years.
If there’s truth the rumour then he could well prove to be an astute signing. Interesting also to note that Wikipedia states he is 5’9”... certainly not Jim’s typical mould for a centre forward but if he can play off either the left or right as a wide forward perhaps he’s a replacement for Danny Lloyd?
Welcome to Heaven by the way, mate!

He seems to be the sort of player that can score goals at any level - and also the type our squad was missing last term. Will be delighted if he joins us.

Would be a superb addition. Let's hope it goes thru.we've needed a proven goalscorer and hopefully he will put pressure on Nyalk to up his game again.

Whilst not suggesting that this would be anything other than a good signing, I'm just beginning to wonder who is calling the shots at the moment reference the recruitment policy. None of the players whose services have been acquired since the takeover would seem to fit the profile JG's past recruits and whilst modern training and dietary regimes have undoubtedly prolonged playing careers it's difficult to see this beyond the short-term.

Seems like he'd be a decent player but also seems a little long in the tooth for a Jim Gannon signing, we know Jim loves getting his young rough diamonds and moulding them into fantastic players, he's made a career out of doing so.
Still, if this does end up being true, he seems like he knows where the back on the net is!

I would agree that he doesn’t seem to fit the mould of a typical Jim Gannon signing. We all know Jim prefers a lone target man to lead the line in a 4-3-3/4-5-1 formation and without having seeing Marriott play, he doesn’t seem to fit the bill unless he able to play off either wing and be a goalscoring wide forward like Danny Lloyd.
As for whether we *could* sign him, I think if we are genuinely interested there is no reason why we don’t have a good chance to secure his signature. Of course there may be other clubs interested, but at last it feels like we are in a good position to be able to offer full time football, decent wages and the very real possibility of success at this level.
For players who are dominating the National North/South, moving to County now would represent a decent step up in quality, the opportunity to play for a ‘big club’ at National League level in front of decent crowds every week, and the chance to hopefully play in the football league in the not too distant future.
We are an attractive proposition for ambitious footballers at NL/NLN/NLS level.
