Shouldn't have binned Cowen off.
If it carries on like this we will be rebuilding yet again next season.
Only one word for it depressing !
Respect to those who went tonight, I couldn't face it after the last two abysmal aways.

turns out that getting home early after an away defeat is only a very marginal comfort.
it was mainly them first half although we did win a couple of corners towards the end. gave the ball away/failed to clear our lines quite a lot. nicky platt at right back was had on toast for most of the half, not helped by the fact that battersby in front of him didn't offer a lot of assistance. platt did manage to burst through just before half time, but his floaty shot was so tame it would barely have crossed the line even if the 'keeper hadn't been there.
we looked a little better second half, and made a few vague chances. macc referred to dennis' miss - it was a couple of yards out at the far post from a low oates cross and it looked like it got stuck under his feet a bit. dennis didn't have a very good game, and doesn't offer much to the team when things aren't working for him up front. i feel like we're replacing players, but the incoming ones aren't really any better. moses and milligan (so far) fit into that category for me. lees and o'halloran mainly looked alright in the middle, but not anything like good; we just didn't seem to have the belief in the middle and going forward that we would make something happen.
overall, pretty disappointing and pretty cold to boot.

Can't disagree with any of that, exile.
At least, the journey back for us SK-ers wasn't too arduous, either. The Finger Flyer has literally flown home in less than half the time we took to complete the pre-match schlep!
And, with that, my mobile battery is about to run ou...

Just got back home. ars has summed it up well. We huffed and puffed, but lacked quality. Their first goal was really poor from us. A routine header out ended up back across goal to one of their players. Their second was a real cracker from their No. 7. We didn't create much until near the end. Their keeper made a good save from Dennis, but we didn't deserve anything from the game. Milligan did ok, but always seemed to be looking for the killer pass which never came off. Dennis was also isolated up front on his own; he kept flicking to balk on but he was usually the furthest forward. The highlight was meeting hedgegrower and having a chat at half time (oh and seeing my brother who I hadn't seen for a little while - sorry hh!) And yes, it was very cold!

in my defeat-stewing last night, i forgot to report there were three things i've never seen before at a game...
i'm sure it's probably customary at this level but two separate blokes with big dogs on leads at the game! one seemingly taking this f***ing giant canine for walkies round the stands while we awaited the delayed kick off! i asked one of them what he thought of our rapid descent down the leagues. he replied (obviously) 'ruff'...
but the other thing was a group of young county lads, maybe aged about 14-15, and a group of similarly aged guiseley lads standing together in the top corner of the mainish stand in the second half. banter, partisan songs, and then handshakes later on. fair play. that's a really good thing to see after all the segregation we've been used to, which in the end just breeds separation and hostility. i'm sure 'winds of change' was playing in the background...
i had also never before seen a leathered clearance whack someone full in the pie! i've seen cups of drinks knocked out of hands (and in one memorable occasion all over the carrier, by steve massey, no less!), but early on last night, the ball was belted out. i thought this woman behind had caught it brilliantly. then i noticed the flap of polystyrene poking out over the top of the ball, making it look like a massive pearl in a straining clam. after much messing about extricating it from the pie and an explanation to the guiseley player, it was thrown back. we could see the large smear of mincey filling on the ball. he was laughing his head off and had to wipe it on the pitch before taking the throw.
we were delighted! there is a certain charm to this level...

So that's what it was. We were over the other side by the dugouts (well, mini bus shelters) and just thought it was some wag keeping hold of the ball. Brilliant!

yeah, she unsurprisingly neglected to get the game started quickly again - she put the ball down next to her and began getting the sludge out of her coat/lap...
