Welcome to NHS hour, otherwise known as Corovid central. These people are supposed to be aware of the dangers of contamination and infection. WAKE UP!!!! The government are already refusing to rule out a total lockdown if the UK doesn't start heeding advice on hygiene and distancing, but this country is overrun with utter f***ing idiots, so it's pretty much a given that this will be the next step. These stupid, selfish b*st*rds are seeing to it that I won't get to see any of my family for the forseeable f***ing future.

Not just in the towns, either. This stupidity is hitting open countryside, as selfish idiots flock to the Scottish Highlands and Islands, Cornwall... and the Land of my Fathers: For goodness sake, people, #stayhome - and don't #upstickstosecondhomes

This is not a holiday people. It is global pandemic! I worry that ‘British spirit and pride’ will lead to a very hard fall. Stay safe and stay away everyone!

I don't want to go on too much about my own lot, but I guess this is why Maccy started this thread, so I'll post it anyway.
Living in Liverpool, nearly 40 miles from my family and my kids hasn't been easy at times, especially when the idiot writing this was too stupid and too lazy to get off his arse and learn to drive when he was younger. This of course means that I've relied heavily on public transport to get to and from Stockport while living here, except for the times when one or two good people back home have been able to give me a lift there and back, for which I will always be grateful.
I've had many times when I've been homesick, which is just normal, I guess, but never more than right now, when train travel is pretty much a no-no. I was willing to risk it just this once and had even booked a hotel for Friday night so I wasn't staying with my folks, but I realise now that I was just being selfish and irresponsible. As it turned out, that particular dilemma was taken out of my hands when I took a phone call from my Dad on Wednesday to ask me not to come visit this weekend, but as disappointed as I was, I knew he was right.
It was this, along with both of my sons being told that their places of work were closing until further notice, plus my 80+ year-old Auntie now being on total lockdown in the nursing home she now lives in that has really hammered home just how far away 40 miles is, and it hurts. Then I see and hear of selfish, greedy people in supermarket queues and in public places not giving a single thought towards the bigger picture and the damage they are risking, not only to themselves, but to others too - it angers and frustrates me.
My Auntie's health is deteriorating now, so who knows when, or if any of us will ever get to see her again. The longer these morons keep being given the freedom to be morons, the less likely we are to ever see her again. These people need to realise that this is not just a common f***ing cold, nor is it the seasonal flu - this is a killer and could end up wiping out many family members in a very short space of time. The economic impact on the country as a whole is also something they need to think about too, as this will cost us dearly for a very, very long time.
I know Duds will be reading this now who is in a much worse situation than us, but at least Spain is taking the necessary steps to make sure people not only listen, but have no choice but to do what they're told to do. Meanwhile, our government, the same government that the British public put into power just a few months ago, are giving that very same British public - who have also crashed us out of the EU - the freedom to decide what they think is the right way to fight a global pandemic - you really couldn't f***ing make it up.
Surely even Boris Johnson will admit that the British public are f**king idiots by now?
@ Duds: You may be in lockdown for a while and it will be a very difficult time for you, but when you get through to the other side of this, and you will get through to the other side of this, you'll still have made the right decision to get out of here, matey - I have no doubt about that.
How much of that waffle actually makes sense, I don't know, but I just felt the need to start typing and that's how it ended up.

Gazz, thanks for that. I know on here we are treating it seriously and for that I’m grateful as there are many good people here. Remember we can only control our own actions. We must try to influence as many people as possible to behave in the correct way. There is no real individual in this situation, the virus doesn’t care. Look out for who you can and keep your loved ones as safe as possible. At least Ryanair have refunded my flights for Easter when I was coming to watch the Yeovil game! EP will still be there waiting for me and this thing is far bigger than football! Hasta pronto amigos!

I contacted my ex partner who works for the National Trust last night to see how she's getting on. Her father is having end of life care at his nursing home in the midlands and she's in the same boat. She's already resigned herself to not seeing him again and although she didn't specifically say so, possibly not making his funeral and yes, you're right, now is not the time to be led by a useless, self-regarding lump of lard in a suit who's statements appear increasingly glib while the libertarian political views to which he holds look more like nut-jobbery than mere zealotry,

I can't imagine what she's going through right now. I just hope that something can be done to stem this enough to allow her to see him. These fools ignoring the advice should read that post and realise just how much they're hindering the efforts to get this thing under control, not to mention the devastating effect it'll have on families up and down the country if they don't wake up and join the fight. My thoughts are with your ex-partner, mate, and indeed everyone else in a similar situation right now.

Strange bordering on bizarre, the National Trust's response to the site heaving with visitors yesterday is...to close the car park today. It's not as though they'd be losing money closing the site, the house is closed and the gardens free to enter. One does wonder sometimes.

The British public do not have the moral fibre to do the right thing, as has been proved since 2015 when they allowed the Brexit bomb dropper back into Number 10, so the decision-making process has to be taken away from them - not as much for their own good as it would be for ours!

Have heard this afternoon for the first time this afternoon that someone I know has been hospitalised by CV. He's a friend and a fellow member of my squash club (whose doors, as Club Chair, I had to close last week). In his early '60s, an active player and as fit as a butcher's dog - but now with acute symptoms, and on a ventilator. I think the term is this sh*t just got real.

I really hope he pulls through this, matey.
