Take a bow Mr Stott, well done, what a brilliant gesture from yourself and on behalf of our football club, especially when there is next to zero income coming in

Absolutely fantastic. 'County in the Community' at its very best.

I think a few larger local clubs could take a leaf out of the book on this this.
It needs to be on the BBC Sports pages at the very least.

Exeter City fan here. Just wanted to say a massive thank you to your club and owner for chucking 75k into the NHS pot to help fight this truly horrible virus. Especially as you aren't awash with money like the big boys of the Prem who don't seem to be doing anything. County will always be fondly remembered by me from now on for trying to make a difference in these uncertain times.

Nice of you to take the trouble of popping on here to say so, mate.
Hope to be renewing contact with Exeter on the pitch again soon!

No probs. Just trying to focus on the positives and not get bogged down with all the negatives being chucked about by various news channels at the moment. I'm not a million miles from you lot here in Chesterfield. Used to have a mate who lived in Chapel-en-le-Frith and we used to go to that snooker hall in New Mills. Not seen him for years though. Anyway, hope we can all get through this mess and County can get back in the EFL asap.

Cheers for taking the time to join up and post those kind words, mate, it really is appreciated! Your lads are looking good for promotion, so best of luck for the run in when the season starts up again!

only time i went to exeter was for a 2-1 win in the cup when we were still the big boys. doesn't seem impossibly long ago or anything, but there have certainly been a few changes since.
thanks for your kind words and best of luck to the grecians too.

One of the best away-days ever, as chronicled by yours truly for our CHAOS publication a few years back...
Were you there, greciansrus? We might have met and exchanged greetings outside St James Park afterwards!
*****************************************************************************************************
2nd May 1994: Away -v- Exeter
By Hatter in Macc
This rearranged League Two (League One, in today's money) fixture took place on the early May Bank Holiday Monday, following an earlier postponement - more of which in a separate CHAOS post later - and at a season's closing stages which already saw Exeter relegated and County secure in the play-off places.
So far, so unremarkable... at least in those good old days! But what I shall never forget about this match is that practically everyone in the ground was willing the visitors to win
Exeter's fate was already sealed - leaving the home fans to switch their attention to their hated near-neighbours from Plymouth, who were themselves in the play-offs and gunning for automatic promotion. And, although our own chances of achieving a top-two finish were slim at best, the Exeter faithful would, quite frankly, be happy to pin their hopes on anyone who might mathematically do so at Argyle's expense.
And so it was that County's two goals that afternoon let to celebratory outbreaks in all four stands and terraces, whilst Exeter's one successful raid was greeted with an eerie silence.
At 1-2 down, and with just a few minutes remaining, the home side also spurned a gilt-edged opportunity to equalise. Later the same year, after buying County's 1993/94 'Goals of the Season' video, and watching this very miss, I creased up at the clear sound of an Exeter supporter anxiously yelling "NO!" as his player was racing clear on goal!
The game was also one of the few that featured a bemused-looking Joel Cantona, during his brief, and rather surreal, spell at County. What he made of the atmosphere on that occasion was anyone's guess.
Emerging from the ground afterwards, we were faced with a line of Exeter supporters literally queuing to shake our hands and wish us well. Quite bizarre, but also positively heartwarming...
Of course, it all proceeded to go t*ts up for County at Wembley, against the very side (in claret and blue) that we loved to hate back in the day. But, thinking of our gracious hosts that balmy - not to mention rather barmy - May day in Devon, at least Plymouth didn't make it either.

No unfortunately not. I wasn't a fan back then. I have fond memories of the days of Brett Angel and Kevin Francis though at Stockport. Jim Gannon was around then too I recall. Stay safe everyone and see you on the other side. Of life I mean lol.
