Let’s just hope the National League *C E N S O R E D* Let's not think like that, big guy, because today has been a long time coming - we've had more than our fair share of bad luck! Great interview with Jim, who I've said many times was my favourite County player along with Kev during those great days under Danny. He is also my favourite manager, along with the little man, of course - nobody will ever top Danny, but Jim gets equal status! I'm convinced that it was his love for the club that made him come back for a third spell after being crapped on twice, and boy were we lucky that he did. Mark Stott gives the impression that he 'gets' it where Jim and County are concerned, so hopefully he'll give him every bit of support he needs to achieve his goal of getting us back to where we belong. Jim has had unfinished business here since 2009, could this be where he can finally finish it? I bloody hope so! In Jim we trust.

This post on MB by user County1999 sums it perfectly for me.
"...given everything he needs, Jim is too good to fail. Tactically he's on another level to this league, the league above and probably the league above that.
If he gets the players he wants we will be unstoppable. No doubt in my mind about that"
Nor in mine.

Give jim a full time squad with a full time attitude and we will win promotion. Sorry I’ve been quiet tonight Gazz I spent several hours in a bar practising my Spanish. It might be twenty to two in the morning but I’m about to listen to Jim’s interview. The interview with Mark Scott ticked every box I would have put in front of him... dare we actually be optimistic?

Don't be daft, Duds, I was just kidding, matey - a little exuberance on my part, perhaps! I agree with your thoughts on the promotion if Jim gets the backing to put together the team he wants, plus Mark Stott's interview - he came across really well! As you say - dare we be optimistic?

I thought this had passed us all by (not been on for 18 hours)! My first thoughts were a "false dawn" of which there has been many.
Then I read the report this morning on my phone. The guy seems like a realist who won't throw the baby out with the bath water (and there is a reservoir of that to contend with).
The need to stay in this league, this season, and kick on from there with a full time quality squad is essential along with a financially stable base to work from. The club has the crowds to survive 2 divisions upwards - just needs a business model to match.
My glass is half full, please don't knock it over again.

Having heard the interview it's such a relief not to have to listen to the kind of McKnightesque management b*ll*cks that is such a regular feature of Pseuds Corner in Private Eye. I dare admit to being cautiously optimistic. Cautious because I've been watching this club for long enough to have witnessed too many false dawns but by the sounds of it we'll get fairly early notice of intent.

There has been talk of a take over for ages and it mostly seemed to be baseless rumours. I was chatting to a few folk at Halifax away on New Year’s Day and from what People we’re saying everything had gone quiet on a takeover so I was very surprised to hear the news.
I haven’t heard of this bloke before which I’m taking as a positive since the other potential buyers were driven more by ego than competence it seems.
This does seem to be a genuinely momentous event in the recent history of the club. Just when we thought we were looking at a mid table finish having secured enough points to stay up, a playoff push (or better) is on the cards....

Checking back on Maccy's reports, this was JG's first team on arriving four years ago... Team: Ormson, Morton, Roberts, Montrose, O’Hanlon, Smalley, Marsden, Rule (Russell, 46), Odejayi (Baggie, 73), Brewster (Menagh, 87), Holsgrove. Unused Subs: Tonge, Evans.
After 3 full seasons, this was the team that went out to claim the championship away at Nuneaton: Team: Hinchliffe, Minihan, Duxbury, Turnbull (Capt.), Palmer, Keane, Thomas, Walker, Mulhern (Bell, 85), Warburton (Osborne, 88), Kirby (Stephenson, 81). Unused Subs: Cowan, Ormson.
Not only had a team been built across those seasons, but also a sense of identity and pride. And I'll give a special mention for players like Smalley and Clarke - they may not have been with us to at Nuneaton last when that championship was won, but they played a signfiicant part in getting us on an upward trajectory.
However, for the thanks we (or some of us) may have for the ship being steered better in recent years, there does come a point when people can only do so much.
After cup runs, big gates, more sponsors, champions merchandise, concerts and so on, started this season with a weaker side: Team (4-2-3-1): Hinchliffe; Minihan, Palmer, Keane, Cowan; Turnbull (Capt.), Walker; Thomas (Bell, 81), Dimaio (Osborne, 64), Kirby (Jackson, 87); Mulhern. Unused Subs: Ormson, Curran.
So the fact our staff and squad, supplemented by loans (a sort of 50/50 hit/miss as can be expected), have moved into a FT league and put us in a position where we are flirting with playoffs so deep into the season is an achievement in itself.
I'm glad to hear the new owner (welcome, Mark!) is already onto plans for a training facility, will help us to return to FT and can support in the immediate period in terms of budget. I'm glad he reflects on the achievement to get us back into the NL and the difficulty in getting out of this league. I'm glad he talks about us staying at EP and talks about the supporters and the community.
I'm giddy, relieved, grateful and hopeful of better times ahead.
That said, it wouldn't be County if we didn't get a 5k crowd on Saturday and then lose 6-0, with some random left-back doing a knee-slide and cupping his ears at the CE after his 25-yard shot goes through the ref's legs, hits the post and rebounds in of Hinchliffe's arse.

As a confirmed county anorak of long standing I am utterly in awe of Herm's attention to detail. His anorak has a snorkel fur lined hood and I bow to its superiority in every respect to my own.

I'm willing to bet that his Anorak is also water-resistant up to 88.5 atmospheres - Jacques Cousteau territory!

"Always give thanks to those who bow at your furry hood."
It seemed strange advice to receive from my nan on ny 16th birthday, but... thanks!
.....
And Mini-Herm, if you ever read this post, I can't tell you how disappointed I was to find your mother logging into this website and posting disgraceful messages.

well with a litany of idiots running the club behind us, the proof of this pudding will be in the eating. you also wouldn't expect anything other than positivity in the interview...
...but that was really good. funds straight away for jim. commitment to training facilities, and real positivity about EP. i was particularly glad (once he'd spelled out that he was in property) that quashed any concerns by envisaging EP continuing to be county's home, and not only that, a home that would have money spent on it.
also seemed firmly behind the idea of adding value with his existing staff. it remains to be seen whether some of the ambitions are scaled back (increasing capacity, championship in 7 years) but richard park has overseen an unhurried three point turn to see us heading back in the right direction, and now mark scott seems to be impatiently revving the engine.
