........ so says the title of a piece on page 4 of today's Non League Paper (NLP). The article gives me cause for concern as it seems to convey Jim's frustration in the lack of investment in our Club, which, he feels, needs to move to a full-time structure sooner rather than later, if we are to progress from this level and re-gain a place in the EFL. The writer mentions the loanees who will leave County at the end of the year and Jim's need to replace them with permanent or loan players that can do the job required and supplement the successful squad from last season.
A fellow County fan was telling me (on the train home from Torquay) that he believed advanced talks were taking place with potential investors which might result in a take over of the Club. Anyone heard any whispers?

He's right, from a couple of points of view. If we wish to retain the services of the likes of Osbourne who has demonstrated this season that he is almost certainly going to be good enough to play in the football league and potentially Bell who's form over the last month has suggested that the penny may finally have dropped (in which case he's also likely to be good enough) and we wish to attract the kind of players like Tom Walker and Devante Rodney who are good enough to get us up than we will have to be able to offer them full-time contracts.
As for the latter, we've heard about potential buyers of the club for years, none of which has ever come to anything so personally I tend to ignore it. I'll believe it on the day it's announced.

The latest rumour, naming a guy involved in property, has been on MB for some time now and one of the rumours prior to that was Vincent Kompany - a rumour which made it into the Manchester Evening News.
From JG's post-match remarks in more recent weeks, he was talking about needing to know what's going to be happening so he can plan and players can know where they stand too... there's a sense for me that there's at least some credibility this time. But, as NYE and Gazz have said, until anything actually happens...

i always wonder whether there's an issue during due dilligence that makes them back away nervously...and the fact that we don't own what would normally be a club's main asset.

I will believe it when / if it finally happens, but not holding my breath. Also the words 'property developer' always rings alarm bells with me.

I don't think anything will come of this.
I can't help feeling that if we had a single owner we'd have been sold on by now.

And unfortunately we have bitter experience of how that can end up, despite assurances to the contrary by both sides. For myself, one can only trust that the current management have the best long term interests of the club at heart.

It's frustrating, because I know that with the right funds, Jim will get us back to the FL much quicker - that's when we'll really start to kick on. Playing as County on FIFA will be the glaze on the cherry on that particular cake!
