Good afternoon, and welcome to those visiting fans from Rushall Olympic (“Are you Gainsborough in disguise?!”).
For once, I am somewhat envious of Maccy being able to pen the football side of our article following last Saturday’s result, but to be fair he’s earned it, having had to muster enthusiasm following some poor results so far this term. Hopefully, it was the turning point to our season and we can now focus on the ‘unfamiliar’ end of the table!
Following that result, everyone at County Heaven was delighted to learn that the man we opted to sponsor this season has been appointed Manager – praise The Lord! Rumours that the chant will be altered to “County Heaven Sponsored Lordy, give us a wave!” are, however, unconfirmed.
Not that Heaveners ever get despondent following a poor result (ahem), but there was certainly a welcome buzz about the place come 4.45pm (or 5.15pm for those relying on the BBC) last Saturday. This was especially true for Lennie, who combined the result with a dramatic late win in my quiz on the tie-break question! If you can work out what County-related link applies to the following artists – Tina Turner, Tom Jones, Robert Palmer and Shayne Ward – you should pay us a visit and join in!
Lastly, I’m pleased to report that nearly half the copies of “C.H.A.O.S.” have now been sold. So, if you want a copy in time for Christmas, contact me asap at sandbachhatter@hotmail.co.uk.
Have you ordered yours, Maccy?...

Sure have, buddy. Why, owning a First Edition or two of this classic-in-the-offing is gonna be my pension!
No time for idle chit-chat, mind. Our unexpected midweek change in opponents for today has left me All in a Rush to get this piece rewritten – and at Olympic speed (see what I did there...?)!
And so, I have ditched my initial notes about Gainsborough’s impressive resurgence since being the first team to concede defeat to County this term, and now turn to focus instead on Rushall, who are following up their sixth-place finish in the Evo-Stick Northern Premier League for 2012/13 with a solid start to the new campaign. They feature among their ranks the much-travelled Dele Adebola, who has turned out against County on at least one occasion in the course of plying his trade for a host of League clubs, and Tom Eckersley, who has actually played for us – albeit in a two-game, ’blink-and-you’d-have-missed-him’ loan spell a year ago.
Having executed a near-faultless demolition of Worcester last weekend, County chalked up a second successive four-goal haul – and, for good measure, a first away-win of the season – at Barrow on Tuesday night, leading us (whisper it) to encroach into the top half of the Skrill North. Given our poor start, it isn’t a bad place to pause as we take this break for Cup action.
Finally, just time to extend some customary County Heaven greetings- and to extend a plaudit. The customary new player shout-out goes to Nicky Platt, who, hopefully, will have enjoyed his cameo of a match-winning debut one week ago. And I couldn’t possibly sign off without echoing most warmly Sandy’s congratulations to Lordy, on having that same day been handed the managerial reins permanently. A fine, and highly deserved, outcome – if we Sponsors may say so!
Enjoy the game – and get behind the team...hopefully, towards a place in the next round.
