The 3 PT squads JG has put together since returning should give us confidence that we'll again have a squad which is serious about representing the club well, on and off the field.
Just how well we can expect to do, given we neither know our squad nor the squads of others, is anyone's guess at this stage though. All we really know is that our best squad in seasons, training an extra day to most, has just won a regional league with a few FT (and not really bankrolled) sides - by 1 point. We're now moving into a national league with few PT sides and will face the likes of Harrogate and either Salford/Fylde once more - sides which finished 15 (Fylde), 16 (Harrogate) and 22 (Salford) points ahead of us within the past few seasons. Such a points difference would have placed us anywhere from 12-18 in this season's NL table. I'm not suggesting that's where we can expect to finish (squads are different now etc.), but it does emphasise the 'head start' such sides have.
Other than that, it would be great if the statements could stop pretending that JG chooses to be PT when it's his only option to put together a competitive squad. Seriously.
I do want to thank Matty for all he's done for us and he'll be remembered by me in much the same way as all our great past players that have brought us success, but I just can't bring myself to wish a player well at this point when we've had to let him go for nothing less than a fortnight after going up - it just feels like a real kick in the balls to me.
I'll get over it and wish him well, once the swelling goes down and we've signed a decent replacement!
