Good afternoon everyone. Welcome to those fans who have made the trek along the M62 from Brighouse (and even those that came a different way, I guess).
I am, again, eternally thankful that Maccy is the one responsible for writing about events on the pitch, while I take you through the latest goings-on at CHHQ, but suffice to say I shall be steering clear of Vauxhall the next time the Sandy Wagon needs replacing.
First and foremost, everyone at County Heaven wishes our good friend Down Under Hatter a speedy recovery following his recent leg break, suffered while playing football over in Oz. The Prediction League has, however, continued uninterrupted with yours truly taking over supervision of proceedings during his absence. This has not, unfortunately, improved my performance whatsoever, as I currently lie fourth from bottom in the table, propped up by Big Fudge, Dudley (who only entered part way through the month) and Sirius (who is, in all fairness, a lass). Oh, the shame.
More promisingly, I was triumphant in the recent limerick competition and my latest quiz – the ‘music’ round – is going swimmingly following Gazza winning the last one without dropping a single point! But, alas, it isn’t always about me (just most of the time) and in other news we have a few new games to pass the time, including Another Ruined Saturday’s “Food, Glorious Food” and my “If You Were a County Player, Who Would You Be?” - based on working out which player you are from your initials. The fun never ends!
Right, over to you, ‘Anthony Elding’...

Gawd bless yer, ‘Glynn Hurst’!
FA Cup fever is beginning to feel a lot like Christmas for County fans, in so far as we are encouraged to get into the swing of it earlier with each passing year! Certainly, watching a tie before September is out will be a new experience for all those of us in blue and white today. Spare a thought for, and doff your hats to, our visitors, then, who began their FA Cup campaign with an Extra-Preliminary Round match against Seaham Red Star way back on 17th August, when Fortress Edgeley lowered its drawbridge for County’s opening League fixture of the season!
Since our last notes, County have achieved two draws - here, while hosting Leamington, and then up the road at Stalybridge - sandwiched between a desperately disappointing (and Lordy’s first managerial) defeat on The Wirral, by the odd, and very late, goal in three, against Vauxhall Motors. Always one to look for the positives, I was immensely impressed by the full debut performance at Bower Fold of Scott Duxbury, who, to the delight of the away following, kept Sean McConville quiet all afternoon. A warm County Heaven welcome, too, to Tunji Moses, who has featured, and contributed well, in the two drawn games - and against whose Dad (for it is Remi) I once played squash at Moss Side. Which makes me feel rather depressingly old!
The players clearly appreciated the travelling support last weekend in SK15. Let’s be sure to get The Twelfth Man in good voice again today, on our return to SK3!
Enjoy the game.
