Congratulations to the Rocket, Ronnie O'Sullivan on a 7th world Snooker championship, to equal the great Stephen Henry's record.
Without doubt the greatest Snooker player of all time and now the oldest world champion.
An incredible talent that makes the game still worth watching.

Absolutely brilliant from Simon, and so typical of him when he's at his best. When he's on his game he's scintillating to watch, it's just that he lacks the consistency needed to take the major trophies. Cheers for posting, Duds.

With the man himself opening up with his remarkable life story this week , I think this should be highlighted and enjoyed again, not just today, but again and again and again, for all time. Mo Farah seals second Olympic gold with 5,000m win - www.bbc.co.uk/sport/av/olympics/19228975Then there's the footage of Steve Cram's amazing commentary - check out Brendan Foster in the background: This has to be one of the most amazing things I've ever witnessed from a British Sportsman in my lifetime, and it still gives me goosebumps rewatching it - what a man!

The word legend is often overused in sport but Allyson Felix who retired today having won an incredible 30 Olympic and World championship medals, 20 of which were gold. She won her final one, a bronze yesterday in the mixed relay. Her first was gold in 2005! This is alongside their fantastic achievements which you may or may not have heard of…
Google have paid an incredible tribute to her. Just google her name

One of my three points in the prediction league came thanks to my original ‘Scottish club’ Queen of the South’s victory. Today I read this rather lovely story! Father and son make football history at Queen of the South www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-south-scotland-62970927

Entirely non-Football but, as a Gorton lad myself, it's nice to see the Belle Vue Aces taking a 12 point lead to Owlerton, Sheffield for the second leg of the British Speedway Premiership Grand Final on Thursday night (Eurosport 2, 7.30). Fingers crossed Stockport lad, and former British Champion Charles Wright will recover from his, rather hairy, get-off which forced him to withdraw part-way through last nights first leg, and the Aces can win the top title for the first time since 1993.

Belle Vue was always a great night out (although I preferred the stock cars).
On to the dog track for the last race of the night before a train back to New Mills. Free entry to the fun park in the afternoon if you had speedway tickets.
