Evening all.
Here's our offering for today's programme article - hope you enjoy!

Welcome back to EP – and to Solihull Moors, who, interestingly (well, quite interestingly!), form part of a fixtures-sequence whereby County play three sides from the West Midlands in a row. Today’s encounter is the middle part of this trilogy, following last Saturday’s mud-splattered away defeat against Telford –and ahead of the opening March fixture at, and an inaugural trip to, Leamington.
Since our last notes were written, County have also completed, both with flying colours and by identical scorelines, a couple of more northerly assignments: across The Pennines, on a pudding of a pitch, at sub-zero Bradford Park Avenue; and, prior to that, here in wet and gusty SK3, where three points against Stalybridge Celtic secured a top-half placing in the table for only the second time of a Saturday evening in 2013/14. Much of the media coverage about the ‘derby’ match concentrated on Sean McConville’s sending off. For me, however, it is another former Hatter at Celtic, Keith Briggs, who merits a most positive shout-out for having applauded all sides of the ground following the final whistle – despite what must have been a desperately disappointing afternoon for the side that he now player-manages. Nice one, Briggsy. (And you will forever be Macc Junior’s first fave footballer!)
Victory over Stalybridge rounded off a fine birthday celebration for my esteemed co-contributor, too!
Was it the icing on your cake, Sandy?

It was indeed, and nice to see County go past my age in points, too. Just think, if they reach your age in points by the end of the season we’ll be up as Champions!*
For a while now I’ve focused my part of the article on the County Heaven Games Room, as the forum has been rather quiet/despondent when it came to discussing matters on the pitch. It makes a refreshing change, therefore, to be able to refer to the plethora of threads regarding our beloved County – and (whisper it) we’re all relatively optimistic! Whilst the play-offs are perhaps asking too much this campaign, it’s nice to be even considering them and not staring over our shoulders at the relegation-abyss that has haunted us of late.
We’re also keeping a close eye on ex-Hatters as they ply their trade elsewhere (admittedly, most of our recently-departed are either at Lincoln or Macclesfield), and we’ve seen a few welcome (and not so welcome) faces back at EP in recent weeks sparking debate. Also, for those who enjoy adopting foreign sides, you can join us as we follow the fortunes of ‘Rolvsoy IF’ from the Norwegian Conference - as they’re now managed by our Nordic chum, Jarkko!
Lastly, I have to mention the Games Room briefly for two reasons. Firstly, the phenomenon that was ‘The Italian Job’ has reached an epic conclusion, with Fudgie (driving the red Mini Cooper) escaping the Polizia to win. Secondly, ‘Sandy’s Poker Tournament’ has just started, with the likes of “Lucky Lennie”, “The Artful Roger” and “Sly-Dog Sirius” donning their best poker faces – although you should never take on a woman when it comes to bluffing!
*Just kidding, you don’t look a day over 45!
Enjoy the game.
