It seems to me that there are some supporters who want too much too soon. Of course we all want new owners who will provide long-term stability and financial backing to the manager. That will come, for sure. However, the MOST important aspect which needs addressing is the current form of the team.
I am sorry to admit it, but i'm somewhat tired of our manager's repeated and varied excuses. Full-time/part-time, players not listening, players not fit, players not strong enough, other teams fitter, etc. etc.
We can all postulate and become armchair managers, me included, but the most glaring feature of our performances this season is the lack of obvious aggression within the team. Now no-one can tell me that these players are not able to put themselves about on the pitch as, for example, Boston did today. JG has this naive belief which he holds on to that football should only be played one way and shame on all the other teams who dare to do otherwise. His aim every season is to finish top of the fair play league with the fewest fouls/yelows and reds. Wonderful ideals if you are a premiership team but this is the 6th tier of the football pyramid for heavens sake and teams are doing whatever it takes to get out of the division. Jim can lambast opposing teams for being overly aggressive, time wasters and even cute when winning cheap free kicks but this is the real world of National League North football. You can see at full time that our players had given 100% and are dead on their feet having undoubtedly put considerable effort in. Unfortunately they are stymied by Jims determination to play 'proper football', without hard tackles and the risk of giving away fouls. Teams come here knowing exactly how to play us - get in our faces, high energy to win the second balls and the odd bad tackle or two aimed at our key players (Dux, Bully for example). Add to this Jims incessant pitch-side criticism of his players and its obviously not the best recipe for success.
I've said it many times and I'll say it again, JG won't change even though his is the most obvious failing within the club at the present time. This begs the question, if JG can't/won't change then should the club change him?
JG needs to get wise, and soon.
