Lewis Hamilton: Formula 1 'barely has any diversity' says British world champion www.bbc.co.uk/sport/formula1/43501543Call me Mr Thicko, but we have Mexican, Finnish, German, French, Danish, Spanish, Belgian, British, Australian, Dutch, Swedish, New Zealand, Russian, Canadian drivers on the grid this season. That seems pretty diverse to me, Lewis.

Think Lewis needs to take his tinted shades off.
All helps if you have a fairly rich family to get you started in karting and lower formulas.
Perhaps he could set up a foundation for working class ethnic youngsters to break into motor racing. I believe he might have a bob or two to spare for the cause.

Unless, of course, he's bemoaning the lack of Welsh, Scottish and Irish drivers, Lennie? In which case, I'll happily concede that he's got a point.

You don't see many Eskimos racing cars professionally either ! That's disgusting, Lennie. I've also noted there's a distinct lack of Mongolian, Kombai and Pigmy drivers in F1, too - it's a f***ing outrage!

Lewis, just stick to your day job - boring tw##. Maybe if you didn't bank your massive wad in Switzerland we'd all be better off - f***ing hypocrite.

Hamilton signs new £30m + per year deal to stay with Mercedes until the end of the 2020 season. Maybe now he can pay the tax he dodged on this among many other things: www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-41886607Plastic Brit w**ker.

Agreed, gts, but give me Mansell, Senna et al any day over this lot - they were proper drivers. Manual gearboxes, proper tracks with little or no run-off areas and proper V10 grunt - no comparison.
Rich man's Scalextric these days.
Mansell v Berger around the outside at Peraltada - ballsiest move of all time.

Fernando Alonso: McLaren's Spanish driver to retire from Formula 1 at end of seasonThe most complete driver of his generation, bar none who, with better career decisions would surely have at least doubled his world title haul - I really hope he can go on to win the Indy 500 and complete a very fitting 'triple crown'. www.bbc.co.uk/sport/formula1/45188028

Fantastic Grand Prix in Monza today. Some brilliant racing, and on the whole it was a very clean race.
Raikonnen did an admirable job for Ferrari, but the Mercs drove brilliantly as a team. Hamilton had great pace and got the win, but I thought Bottas drove the perfect race in a supporting role.
Vettel has got to be disappointed in himself. Ferrari clearly had pace, but now he finds himself further adrift of Lewis in the championship yet again. He lost the championship last year by cracking and making mistakes under pressure and in recent weeks he's been doing the same this season.

Alonso: the F1 great who couldn't catch a breakPart OnePart TwoPart ThreePart FourPart FiveThis from McLaren performance director, Andrea Stella sums up Fernando's incredible talent best for me - highlighting this year's Singapore Grand Prix, one of McLaren's more competitive races in the worst year in their history.: "We knew the chance to score points was all about going long on the first stint when other people would feel they have to pit," Stella says. "But we weren't sure how long you could go, so we were relying a lot on Fernando to tell us how the tyres were going.
"We were expecting him to say maybe around lap 20, 'I can go another 10 laps.' But around lap five/six, he came on the radio, and said: 'I think we can go 35.' And we stopped lap 34. And when we stopped, the tyres were finished.
"I don't want to create a myth like he is a magician. Nothing like that. It is just a matter of preparation, and developing an immense competence in what you do. Similar to playing the violin."Perfectly summed up. There's no denying Alonso is an enigma, but he's the most complete driver I've seen in F1 - with better advice and better career decisions, he'd have a few more titles under his belt. F1 is no longer the spectacle it once was, but it will be even poorer without him.
