Don’t weaken our food, farm, and animal welfare standardsTo George Eustice, Minister of State for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food and all MPs Petition text Please protect British food standards: guarantee that trade deals won’t allow low-standard food into Britain, and support British farmers who look after the environment and their animals. That means the Agriculture Bill should: - Ensure public funding prioritises British farmers that look after the environment
- Protect British farming from trade deals that lower food standards.
Why is this important? Our supermarket shelves could be flooded with low-grade food if we make dodgy trade deals after Brexit. Decent British farmers could be put out of business by cheap imports from countries that treat animals badly and pollute the environment. Lobbyists are working hard to get cheap imports prioritised over animal welfare and environmental standards. But we outnumber them. If hundreds of thousands of us sign a huge petition, MPs will know the public expects them to back a law that protects our farms and food from dodgy trade deals. tinyurl.com/yaaolywp

Signed Gazz, this is one of my biggest post Brexit concerns. Over injected, unregulated American and overseas food imports. One of the best things about the EU was the food and environmental protections they guaranteed us.

One of the best things about the EU was the food and environmental protections they guaranteed us. Unfortunately, a significant chunk of our electorate were either as thick as pig sh*t, or too fed up/lazy/disenfranchised to bother to vote. I know I'm clutching at straws, but I'm hoping we get to vote again so they never get to regret it.

The only hope we have is that the extreme brexiteers are so annoyed and blinded by their hatred of the deal that they go for a second vote. But it is a long shot as we all know this is the will of the people and they have spoken so they must be listened to...

The fact that we're seeing petitions like this is an indictment of how f***ed up this country has become: tinyurl.com/yb93wsgo

bit.ly/2Adjauf Let’s see if we can get Amber Rudd to look at fixing universal credit! It's an absolute disgrace, Duds - duly signed, mate! I don't understand what relevance their question of "will Universal Credit affect you" before signing the petition has to do with anything, though. I was brought up to care for others, regardless of whether or not their plight affected me. Johnny Marr said it best: "You look after people who are less fortunate, and anyone who does otherwise is just f**king ghastly."

Just to remind us that there is still some genuinely important stuff to get worked up about... Ah, touche. Duly signed, mate.
