Hi everyone, long term reader first time poster.
I was on the short lived Clear Blue Skies forum under the same name but as everyone on there seems to have migrated to the reformed Yellow Board I thought I'd come on here. Also I'm the pedant brother of EpworthHatter.
First game attended was a Friday night game at EP in 1992 v Exeter City a 4-1 win. My memories of that game are Jim Gannon taking three penalties at the Railway End and the wooden seats in the Main Stand (I was posh in those days). Having seen the highlights of that game recently on Youtube the three penalties comprised penalty one: scored but ref ordered a re-take due to encroachment. Penalty two saved by the keeper then fouled Gannon as he followed up the rebound resulting in a red card for the goalie and another penalty awarded. Penalty three scored!! Not sure we'll see anything like that again.
Have to now confess that I did dally with Man U at one stage mainly because everyone at school (armchair) supported them and it was the thing to do. However as I've only been to Old Trafford one (and even then it was for the Rugby League World Cup Final in 2000) it soon dawned on me that watching the scores come in on football focus and looking out for Man U's score is not really being a fan whereas actually going to watch real life football and shouting for your team is actually what being a supporter is all about.
Don't live in Stockport anymore (as the moniker suggests) but still manage to get to between 10-20 games a season. Occasionally take a SCFC Cheshire Flag with me (as seen at the away end in Fleetwood on the SCFC Wiki page!)
