I'm hoping Phil is using this year as his assault on the world title, because this has been shocking so far.

I will never understand the logic in going for double 9, double 7 etc with the first dart. Why players don't even it up with the first arrow and have two at the double is beyond me. Miss first dart and you have to even it up anyway, meaning you have to readjust twice in the same visit, it's daft.

Wayne Mardle: "MvG...........MvG............MvG............MvG.........." Just get the tattoo done, Wayne, and have done with it. You're embarrassing!

Phil looked disinterested and a tad nervous. All very strange.

He's lost far, far too much weight, and he's signed a three year £3m deal to switch darts manufacturers. The latter for me being the action of a man who knows he doesn't have long left in the game, and wants to ensure he has a decent seized pension pot before he bows out. That alone suggests that he's now having thoughts beyond the darts, and in my opinion it has affected his focus and determination. It's also a sign that he's three years from jacking it all in.
You could also look at the amount of money he'll earn over that three years, it's over half of his estimated personal fortune. Phil has always looked upon darts as his job, and a means to look after his family, so maybe he's now thinking: "job done, I can now look forward to a comfortable retirement"? His motivation throughout his career does seem to have been looking after his family, and that for me is what has driven him.

Here we go again, week 4 from Glasgow, should be interesting! Can Phil break his 2014 PL duck? He needs to tonight or his challenge for a play-off place could well be in serious jeopardy.

Great performance from Barney too, beating van Vermin 6-4, turning back the clock there with some sublime Darts.

Right, Sir Phil, another win tonight and hopefully, get out of the bottom two.
Last week showed glimpses of play that you'd expect to see more frequently from the darting genius.

No Wes Newton tonight either, Rog, so someone has to play twice tonight. I think whoever has the later draw in the UK Open tomorrow will be playing twice, but I haven't seen the draw so your guess is as good as mine!
