Jim needs to give up on 3 at the back, it is too complicated for players at this level who only train once or twice a week.

Looks like we've pulled one back... Hope we have a Harrogate-esque second half!

In the politest possible terms, Downy, I would argue that there is a significant difference in technical standard, levels of athleticism and game tempo. Particularly when playing against full-time players who have had all week to study videos of our tactics. It's still 11v11. You're discussing the advantages of full-time against part-time which is a different debate. I had the basics of the 3-4-1-2 formation explained to me in less than 10 minutes and I understand the role of every position. You're insulting the intelligence of every County player if you think that they can't understand a formation that a Sunday League clogger can.

What I mean, as you well know, is that hesitations or lack of clarity about roles / positioning are more likely to be exposed at County's level than at clogger level. We had the best defence in the division last year, playing 4 across the back.
I will take the opportunity to issue a vague and insincere apology to the County squad, who I fully expect to win the Nobel prize for a flawless execution of a 2-1-1-0-3-2-0-1 formation with a defensively-oriented trequartisa, mastered during a 1-hour training session on a Monday night after work.

"Hilarious" sarcasm aside...
Are these hesitations/mistakes down to just finishing an 8 hour shift or the complicated formation that our dim players can't understand?

Whatever it's down to, we let in more goals and drop more points when playing 3 at the back than 4, so I think we should stop playing the 3. Jim has said in his interviews that the players are unsure of what to do.
Perhaps it's because of uncertainty about how to cover wide areas. Perhaps our brilliantly intelligent players consider it beneath them. Perhaps we should both leave this thread to people who actually went to the game. Perhaps you should push a fish fork into your most intimate passage (not being sarcastic).

It's a big talking point right now with valid arguments for both sides, but we don't need to get carried away...

We were too slow out of the blocks again today and had problems coping with Salfords ability to break quickly with accurate passes. There defence was solid and the best I've seen this season. They also move into space, head the ball to a player and dont hoof the ball up in the hope that our attacker will keep it and do something with it. Hate to say it but they looked good. Nottingham with his height will always cause teams problems. I'll say it again but the players need to cut out the stupid fouls.
With the clock running down Warburton was quick with throw ins and you could see this match meant something to him. The ref didnt give us anything with Warburtons shout the more likely to be given. Salford may be the team to beat; early days mind but we need to get into them more in the return match. 4 games in 10 days and a full time job takes it 's toll. Their managers parting words to their teram at half time were 'Work Hard'. 'Great' tactic but nevertheless necessary.

They're a hobby club being bank-rolled by a gang of Alex Ferguson arse kissers and nothing more. f**k em, I'd sooner be stuck in level 6 purgatory until the end of time than be a polished Man Uniturd tribute act like them.

I think that Piergianni was one of their most effective players albeit aided and abetted by a very shoddy ref who seemed to think that the laws of the game vis a vis holding your opponent down, sometimes with both arms wrapped round him, didn't apply. I thought we played some decent stuff in the second half and tried to play it out from the back but you can't go giving decent sides a two goal start

Piergianni and Oswell had a tussle by the corner post..good to see our player standing up to him.
