Im hoping Finland can beat the Russians tomorrow. My NHL team have two fins in the team. Unfortunately one Mikko Koivu was due to play for the team and captain the team. He broke his ankle in a match and was unable to make it to the Olympics. But Mikeal Granlund has had a good tourney.

The speed skater did well today coming back from her 2 previous disasters.
Looked like she had a turbo boost 3 laps from home. Well done young lady.

She's the best in the world at 1000m so there's real hope for her.

Finland not looking great but doing what needs to be done, Tuuka Rask in the Finnish goal is absolutely standing on his head this game, a very good goalie shame he plays for the Boston Br*ins!
Russia aren't out of it but they'll have to get a goal within the first 10 minutes of the 3rd period to have any realistic chance, I think!

Fudge, having watched a bit of this ice hockey. How do they ever score a goal? And there seems to be an element of luck about controlling the puck. I can see the skill involved in shooting and some of the near goal stuff but some of it looks like random stick swinging! Pardon my ignorance!

Most definitely not, Duds, this breathtaking piece of skill was scored by one of the losing Russian team:

Far from it Duds, to score in hockey requires great precision, it's a very small net with a very big guy blocking it, a goalscorer faking the goalie with skill is only half the battle, they then have to place the puck in the small area of the goal that is exposed and if that's not daunting enough they then have their opponents charging at them at frightening speed! Some players such as Gretzky, Crosby, Ovechkin, Iginla, the Sedin twins are just naturally gifted at finding that open part of the goal!
