It's the "Tigers" - we must pull their claws. Put an end to all those crucial draws!! Let's make our intention A season's extension Bit like a VHS tape, stops, starts and prone to pause

Rightio, let's wrap this up. Just missing out on the playoffs is Eps who definitely was clutching at straws with his "Salford lose, County 5-0, or am I just clutching at straws". Reaching the playoff final but losing to a majestic 1st minute volley is ceefer. His "Nail biting times checking flashscores" was to be seen all around EP! And the winner, who aptly mentioned the real star of this game (our host), was Maccy with his wonderful line: "And save Len a trip to his in-laws'!" So well done to Maccy, ceefer and Eps for their lines... and to you all, in fact. *group hug* As someone who finds limerick writing a pretty hard task, I have to say there's not only thanks going to Len for all these but also admiration. It's a stellar job to produce the set-ups every game.

Woo hoo - cheers, H! That's made up a tad for yesterday's disappointment on the pitch. Congratulations to my fellow podium-occupants, Ceefer and Eppers. And many thanks, Sir Len, for keeping us rhyming with such fluency and frequency all season - as well as for providing me with inspiration for the in-laws' line!

Nicley done Herm and thanks for the praise, it is a pleasure to provide the lines each week. This all started as a short divergence to stop us thinking about the sad demise of our beloved club and just grew form that ! Great win for Macca (at last the Mother in Law provides some use in life) and good podiums for Eppers and Ceefer. Thanks all for entering. We now have a season ending champion to declare:- Benno 1 Len 3 Gazza 4 County Fan 4 Downey 4 Ceefer 5 Archie 7 Hermann 8 Eppers 8 and your winner this year is:- Macca with 9 A last game victory and no play-offs needed. well done young man. well deserved. The limericks will continue throughout the end of season games and I have a plan for the close season (no World Cup or Euros to help fill the void) which I hope you will enjoy. Cheers

Cheers Well played, Maccy! Congrats also to Eps and ceef on your podiums! @ the guv'nor - the Limerick champion needs a new trophy so that's now on my 'to do' list. I'm currently in work but I'll sort it as soon as I've got time. Cheers as always for another great season of rhyming, mate - if County had matched your level of consistency on the pitch this season we'd have been promoted as Champions!

You are very kind Gazza. We really could do with a whole new division of team names to keep the thread fresh. Miracles I can do, the impossible takes a little longer (and needs Jim's help). At least I have got "the whole of f***ing Ferriby" to play with next time.

Nice one, Maccy, and well done also to Ceefer and Eppy.
As has been said, there would be no competition without the original artwork of the first 4 lines so thanks to Lennie for his sterling work all season. I look forward to the summer cup.

Good win, macc - although as a journo, maybe we need to introduce a handicap system, like golf! Thanks len, top quality lines all season, as usual. I'm rubbish as predictions, don't have enough football trivia to win the quizzes, but I can find rhyming words! the original artwork of the first 4 lines beautiful turn of phrase, archie - spot on.
