Puskas FC (Hungary)
Puskás Ferenc Labdarugó Akadémia, commonly known as Puskás Akadémia FC or simply Puskás Akadémia, are the youth team of Videoton, in Felcsút, Hungary.
The aim of the founders was to establish an academy for Videoton and to establish a fitting memorial to former Hungarian national footballer Ferenc Puskás. This is one of the chaps who ran rings around England at Wembley in 1953, dismantling the myth that our national team were world beaters.
On the 30th matchday of the 2015–16 season Robert Jarni was dismissed during the defeat against Békéscsaba 1912 Előre at the Pancho Arena on 16 April 2016 resulting in Puskás Akadémia's last position and relegation for the first time in a season. So it was all his fault and nothing to do with the previous 29 games played.
Club de Fútbol Pachuca (Mexico)
Club de Fútbol Pachuca is a Mexican professional football team based in Pachuca, Hidalgo, that competes in Liga MX.
Founded by Cornish miners in 1901, it is one of the oldest football clubs in the Americas. After decades of mediocre or poor performances between the 1st and 2nd division, Pachuca was promoted once again to the Primera División in 1998. Since then it has been one of the most successful clubs in Mexico, winning six national championships, four CONCACAF Champions' Cups, the 2007 SuperLiga, defeating Major League Soccer's LA Galaxy and one Copa Sudamericana in 2006 Pachuca became the first CONCACAF team to win a CONMEBOL tournament.
Pachuca was one of the founding members of the Mexican Primera División.
Cornish emigrant miners working for the Compañía Real del Monte y Pachuca founded the "Pachuca Athletic Club" in 1901. Originally they practised football as only a hobby during the free time they had while working at the mines owned by William Blamey. Alfred C. Crowle was the man who first introduced the sport to the mine workers, bringing the first footballs and the rules. Lovely story. I wonder what the half time pies/pasties are like?
Puerto Rico Islanders (Puerto Rico)
The Puerto Rico Islanders were a professional association football team based in Bayamón, Puerto Rico. Founded in 2003, the team played in the North American Soccer League (NASL), the second tier of the American soccer pyramid.
In 1995, a team called the Puerto Rico Islanders joined the USISL, now the United Soccer Leagues (USL). Founded by Joe Serralta, his wife Rosa Serralta and his son Joey Serralta (prompted by Joey Serralta's proposal to his father while Joey Serralta was playing in the USISL with the Charlotte Eagles in 1994). The team played only 7 games before the Serralta family decided to move the franchise to Houston, Texas on June 1, changing its name to the Houston Force, due to problems with the Puerto Rican Football Federation. In 1996 Joey Serralta would become the owner and president of the Houston Hurricanes F.C. while Joe Serralta, Sr. would bring the Islanders back to the island to play on a local basis.
I chose this because I just love the badge and the fact that a player could just ask his Dad to start up a team for him!
