... includes the first two of five full-page features that I have written about County from the club's beginnings. Hopefully, of interest to fellow Heaveners - a couple of whom make appearances in the two pieces published today! Any exiles wishing to read them, but unable to get hold of the paper, could send me a PM and I would be more than happy to e-mail the text. Also publicised on COWS: www.stockportcounty.com/news/article/2016-17/hatters-in-the-news-3488864.aspx

Just to let anyone within easy reach of an SK newsagent know that this week's edition of the Express contains features three and four.
The issue due out next Wednesday (11th) will include the final, fifth feature - together with a piece that I have written about the 'longest match', involving County and Doncaster, 70 years ago.

A one-off historical feature from me in this week's Stockport Express, out today. It covers the longest match ever played - against Doncaster, just over 70 years ago - and includes my interviews with a brother and son of a County player on that day. (His brother, now 90, also watched the match.) Some 203 gruelling minutes it lasted - although it did feel at times as if last week's marathon affair with Winsford was running the record pretty close... This article was not included in my recent five-part series - so, if any Heaveners in exile are unable to get hold of the paper and would like a copy, just drop me a PM.
