AND ball was pointless and dreadful. CMW had a decent first half but faded out of it second. lot of football left to be played, but the current direction of travel is...well...becalmed actually. another season of nothing. not bad enough to go down, nor good enough to go up.

Thanks all for the reports.
On the refs, it is a bit of a vicious circle. Fans have made refereeing so unpleasant at all levels of the game that you would have to be either a saint or a total dipsh*t to do it. The co-commentator on Pure said "if I did my job as badly as these refs, I'd get sacked": But refereeing isn't their job, it's a hobby that gets them a little bit of beer money. It is irritating to me that fans are still surprised when the refs either want to be the centre of attention or are too scared to make a decision, because anything else would be insane. Does anyone on here fancy doing it?
There might be a few people on here who have had to either referee or run the line at a juniors game etc: Did any of you catch the bug and become desperate to ref in front of two sets of fans as well as coaching staff whose jobs depend on it? As far as Google will tell me, refs at our level seem to get paid about 80 quid per game, assistants about 50...

Entirely agree about Ball. Really don't know what he gives the side at the moment other than lots of huffing and puffing which invariably end with him giving the ball away. We had a number of decent chances and could have been out of sight before they got the first. For all their possession they never looked like troubling Hinchliffe until we got caught out for the equaliser. Jim Gannon has expressed disappointment with the defence in recent interviews and fair enough but there are reasons why these lads are playing in the 6th tier, they are inconsistent and accident prone but look at our goals against and it's not that bad. Look at our goals for and it's amongst the worst in the division. That's why the season is in danger of going tits up, our second highest scorer is Michael Clarke! We've played either Amis or Odejayi in every game this season and they've scored 4...between them!

Thanks for taking the time to write that excellent report, H. Maybe it's time to start looking at who will be the bankrolled club in this division next year and how can we compete with them, because this season seems to be going down the crapper faster than a Vindaloo and a bad case of dysentery. I know Jim will sort this, but my faith in him and his methods doesn't make the process any less painful on days like today. BPA must have some serious backing as they cant survive alone on average attendances of around the 350 mark

BPA must have some serious backing as they cant survive alone on average attendances of around the 350 mark It always baffles me how the majority of them not only survive, but can still afford the quality to compete, mate. I think that's what frustrates many of our fans, but it's only when you scratch beneath the surface at County that you realise just why we've been at a disadvantage. Hopefully that's starting to become less and less of a factor.

all absolutely fair and correct points about the refs JLC. like the players at this level though, it's hard to be grateful to them or logical about them when you've sat out in the cold watching them (through blue lensed spectacles) get it wrong.

the referee pointed to his bullet point list, including - no more than one penalty to be awarded to the same side during the game
- ensure officials are laughably behind play at all times
- after every two minutes of normal refereeing, put whistle in shorts pocket for further ten minutes to give it a rest, regardless of any acts of ritual violence being carried out on the pitch
Superb report as always, mate - that in particular is hilarious! ^^^

Nice to see Steve Mottershead being all friendly in the responses...

Nice to see Steve Mottershead being all friendly in the responses... Why doesn't that guy just stop getting himself all wound up? He needs to calm down, sit back and watch his United DVDs. We've got County covered, we can manage just fine without him.

Completely unrelated to the content in the previous posts, of course, but here's the useful sign that was put up to avoid another delayed kickoff...
