Bloody hell! Are you sure he just didn't unwittingly wander into the revolving door he has fitted at every club he's been at?!

whatever he had when he got that incredible performance out of chester at this level, he's lost down the back of the sofa.
are we six games in? that's an iain bogie-speed resignation if so, and young didn't even have any games the previous season...

Feel a bit sorry for him really as he did seem a nice bloke.

Feel a bit sorry for him really as he did seem a nice bloke. I can't argue with that, but it seems he got lucky with the Chester job and had the cash to back his player in/player out policy. The mark of a good manager is being able to maximise what you have and adapt when money is tight, he was clearly unable to do that. I wonder if he really has quit management for good this time?

wouldn't surprise me gazz. with a family and a job, i could just see him doing a bit of coaching or scouting but not putting himself under the pressure of the top job again. good luck to him.

Dont think he could stomach the thought of County beating them and having the Alty and County fans 'mobbing' him....

The statement on their website reads well. Whatever his shortcomings in a management role, hopefully he'll be able to pass on his skills somewhere along the line. Good luck in the future.

Think Watson may get a phonecall from a Southport number any day soon though...

in these days, it's great to see somebody leaving without wanting a settlement from the club; it not being front and centre in his mind to hang on until they push him and have to pay him off. gigantic respect to him for that, for the second time in 2016.

I think the main problem with NY is that his approach means he can do a lot of damage in a short space of time. He quickly gets rid of an entire squad and replaces them all. This can happen in less than a month, so even if he leaves after 2 months, he makes it much more difficult for the next manager coming in as the playing budget is all gone and there is a disjointed squad, half of which probably aren't good enough. I agree that he seems like a decent bloke, but his approach does cause season-long damage if he isn't successful - which he hasn't been with us an Alty. He needs to take some responsibility for that. Not taking a severance package is the least he could do.

yeah it's a fair point that eps. but he could have compounded it here or at alty by waiting to be fired and taking more money out of the club.
