This Week and Going Forward.....( a Message from Help the Hatters)
EP Litter Pic
First off....today...and a small team were out, in the rain, sorting what turned out to be a somewhat hevier than usual pile of litter in 3 of the 4 stands ( Team pic above).
Bung Open Pre- County v Winsford - Cheshire Senior Cup.
Tomorrow County are engaged at Edgeley Park in the defence of the Cheshire Senior Cup against Winsford- k.o 7.45.
The Bung will be open before the game , and I am advised that Fitzy has stocked up with pies in anticipation of your arrival pre-match, and you will be able to buy a pint in the knowledge that, by so doing, you are contributing to the Players Fund.
Possible Post Game Litter Pic.
After the game it is possible that a quick litter pic of the Danny Bergara stand will take place( to save the usual suspects having to earmark another morning ahead of Saturday's game v Brackley.
Players Fund
On the subject of the Players Fund, this now stands at circa £4500, and Fitzy advises me that a major Players Fund push is imminent ( likely to be entitled `Gannon's Ghost Booster') so watch out for that upcoming soon.
Museum.
Work is still going on to establish this project within Edgeley Park and the Legends Lounge and adjoining rooms are already nicely stocked with items.
Ahead of the opening we will need someone to `do' the exhibit labels for us, so if you think you can help us with this please contact Fitzy .
We also need any historic items you might feel are good exhibit material to enhance our current museum stock. So...again please contact Fitzy or any other Help the Hatters regular you know and pass the items on- they will be a great contribution to what is going to be a brilliant part of our fantastic football ground. Medal for Keith Allen- Part 1 of Des Hinks' Take on Keith... We wrote yesterday of the significant contribution Keith Allen made in our glorious championship-winning season of 1966-67. The Isle of Wight-born striker had, though, moved to Edgeley Park during the summer of 1965 from Grimsby Town, when Vic Bernard’s GO GO GO COUNTY bandwagon was beginning to gather serious momentum. It was also the first season following the change from the Hatters’ white shirts with black shorts to the now famous royal blue strip. The season began with a 1-0 defeat at Chester where the travelling Cheadle Enders numbered more than half of the 9,973 attendance! Despite the defeat almost 12,000 turned up at EP two days later for the first home game against Notts County! County’s early results were inconsistent. Before the visit to Bradford City on September 18, 1965 the Hatters had won two and drawn one of their first seven games. However, boasting two of the best players outside the top division in their ranks, the Hatters were capable of beating anyone and, with the two Len’s, White and Allchurch, hitting top form, the Bantams were massacred at Valley Parade where the 7-1 scoreline remains County’s record away win; White, the maestro, hit a stunning hat-trick. Six days later Barnsley came to town when Friday Night really was County Night. Despite a position of eighth from bottom in Division Four almost 16,000 had the old ground shaking as the Hatters gained back-to-back victories with a magnificent goal from Len White that those there will testify as the greatest ever seen at EP. Keith Allen scored in the record win at Valley Parade. He also scored in the 4-1 win at Wrexham soon after; the two Len’s also scored at the Racecourse. The following month the free-scoring Hatters hit another four, this time at Torquay. Keith scored twice at Plainmoor, the other two scorers ... Messrs Allchurch and White. Keith’s first hat-trick in royal blue came just before Christmas when Luton Town were hammered 4-1 under the lights at EP. The fourth goal was scored by another who’s name rolls of the tongue, the legendary Johnny Price. Despite some of the best attacking players ever seen in SK3 County finished the season back in 13th place largely due to a leaky defence that conceded 70 goals. That had not been lost on manager Eddie Quigley who had been formulating his promotion masterplan several months before the 1965-66 season had ended. The summer months saw the arrival of two of English football’s finest defenders and, although the two were certainly at the twilight end of their marvellous careers, aged 35 and 34 respectively, County’s defensive frailties were no more. Matt Woods and Eddie Stuart would form the backbone of a County team that swept all before them to clinch the Fourth Division title in 1967 following a 2-2 draw at Wrexham with three games still to play. As for Keith Allen, his 1965-66 season ended in the February after picking up a serious injury against Lincoln City. His nine goals from 26 games was only bettered by the great Len White. Keith also scored another two goals in the FA Cup, but we’ll leave that story for another day! You may have read yesterday that Keith, despite making 23 appearances and scoring six goals in our title-winning season, didn’t receive the medal his immense contribution earned due mainly to the fact that he had left EP for Luton just before the season’s end in a swap deal that saw Derek Kevan make the opposite journey. Thanks to the generosity of the amazing County family we have raised almost half of the money needed for the Football League to commission an exact replica. We plan to present the medal, as a surprise, when Keith meets his former teammates on the 50th anniversary of one of the greatest moments in our proud history before the Gloucester City game on April 29. However, to make this possible we need to hit a figure of £700, so if you haven’t donated please consider helping us reach our target – every little helps. Thank you.......here is the Just Giving Link should you decide to help with a donation.... www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/ian-brown-2

Wondering what to do this coming Saturday to celebrate County's win against Darlington?.......Unable to make it to the Supporters Cooperative `Quiz on Tour' at New Mills?......then there is a viable and attractive option for you to consider.....
Mike at the Spinning Top is once again donating 10% of takings between 5 and 8 pm to the Cooperative's Guardian Account- a massive gesture of support from Mike !
From 5 onwards you can relax ...enjoy convivial conversation with fellow County fans , whilst drinking fine...real ales that include the Supporters Cooperative inspired `County Co-Hop'.
After 8 Mike maintains his reputation for providing great entertainment via top bands, and Saturday is no exception.
Headliners are the totally brilliant `Ten Eyed Man' .
You may have caught TEM at this venue before or at the Bung, so you will know just how good they are.If you have not seen and heard them previously...this is your chance ...you will not be disappointed!

This Saturday, County take on Darlington in what should be a cracking match at Edgeley Park.
Before the game, Help the Hatters and the SCAN arm of the Supporters Cooperative, team up at the Bungalow on Hardcastle Road.
Their purpose will be to facilitate the presentation of a SCAN Certificate to Gary Stopforth, who departs these shores for Oz shortly.
It is the final opportunity for County supporters to say goodbye and thank you to Gary , and wish him well on his new venture, and James Gannon will be in the Bung to make the presentation at 12.30.
Fitzy meanwhile has arranged for County Legends Osher Williams and Tommy Swords to call in to the Bung at 12.30 to meet and chat to County fans.
All this, and the knowledge that buying a pint aids the Players Fund- 'nuff said, the Bung it is then at 12.30 on Saturday!
From 1.30 until 2.30 ,the Supporters Cooperative will again be in the Cheadle End Cabin , selling memorabilia ( shirts £10 )in support of the Guardian Account.
If you have 1 or more shirts you think we might be able to re-sell to raise money for the Guardian Account, please drop them off at the Cabin.
Also...after the game please remember , if you cannot make it to the `County Quiz on Tour' at New Mills FC, then...closer to home, the Spinning Top ( next to the Garrick Theatre on the A6) will be dispensing fine ales and warm hospitality ,as well as donating 10% of total takings ( twixt 5 and 8 pm) to the Guardian Account.
And....after 8 the excellent `Ten Eyed Man' will entertain you, supported by Stockport band `Rough Frequency'.
Enjoy the game...enjoy Saturday !

There was plenty to discuss as Help the Hatters held their latest catch up meeting in the Legends Lounge at Edgeley Park.
With John Gaskin in the chair the meeting, after first receiving Treasurer Mike Hopper’s financial report with satisfaction, set about a number of issues.
With boosting funds and thereby ensuring the continuation of our activities, in mind ,focus first settled on Car Boot Sales for the new year. It was noted that although ultimately a new venue might need to be sought, for now we were still operating from Booth Street. Dates agreed were 14 April, 1 May, 29 May and 25 June- all to start at a more user friendly 07.00.Helpers would be needed.
On the Players Fund it was agreed that this carry on with our full support.
Fitzy reported that regarding the Museum, he was expecting a grant towards expenditure of £1000 imminently. He will be circulating many other bodies with a view to similar support.
On the Bung, it was noted that membership renewals were due. Details of those Bung members about to renew were collated to facilitate same. It was agreed also that a need existed for some Bung maintenance work, thus a recy party was agreed upon to fully assess the need. Many SCAN presentations were pending in the remainder of the season.
On Edgeley Park it was noted that sundry matters regarding the Ladies toilets in the Main Stand needed attention.
Discussion also took place on the following matters that were either deferred for further consideration at the next meeting, or matters felt suitable to be raised with the Club…….Pitch Budget Contribution, Ball Boys Tracksuits , Tannoy System, Clock, Shutters in Lounge, Young Player Sponsorship.
A date of 7 February was agreed upon for a `Work Night’ to tackle mainly Museum related tasks, and it was noted that we had an E Bay account which we would utilise to sell County related memorabilia. This is merely a snap shot account of last night’s meeting and does not cover 100% of what went on.

Lets Hear it for Adrian and Andrew !
Posted by hedgegrower on 27/1/2017, 6:32 pm
Yes.... a massive thank you from hedgegrower to Adrian Caville and Andrew Machin who are stepping up and coming to hedgie's aid with the upcoming away games.
Health issues are limiting old hedgies ability to travel and stuff, so I am particularly pleased to confirm that for the Halifax match Adrian and Andrew will be on duty supplying match report and photos respectively.
The report will be published on Sunday 29th.
Adrian is signed up also for our third go at Brackers , and Andrew is a possibility if work commitments allow.
I hope to be able to `do' home games myself ( with Andrews excellent photo support), but watch this space for further info. Enjoy tomorrow's game.
