Better late than never, it's the turn of week H - and here are a few starters for you:
Halloween (1978)
Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone (2001)
History Boys, The (2006)
Hot Fuzz (2007)
Hunt For Red October, The (1990)

Considerably easier than G as there are fewer film on the shortlist, but in a way harder as H has two of my favourite films. Some good Hs... Highlander Happy Gilmore Headhunters Hannibal Home Alone
But it's a toss-up between Heat and Heathers for me. I think Heathers just sneaks it as the best black comedy ever written. Favourite quote comes from the school guidance counsellor: "Whether or not a teenager decides to kill themselves is the biggest decision of their life."

Mentions for:
Hooper
Hard Rain (A superb idea that just worked so well, plus it had Morgan Freeman in it too.)
Hamburger Hill
High Fidelity with the totally brilliant John Cusack.
However, my vote goes to the totally over the top Hot Fuzz, just sheer 'Cornetto' brilliance from Pegg and Frost!

Not seen any of the above so my choice is limited to The Hill High Society Help! and my winner, High Anxiety.

My mentions this week goes to...
The Herbie films! (Any of the old original Herbie films would instantly stop me and my brother in our tracks as kids and we'd sit and watch them over and over again) The Hitchhikers guide to the galaxy Howard the Duck!! Yes I did love this as a kid too! Happy Feet Horrible Bosses 1 and 2
But my winner by a mile is a film that is part of a trilogy of which I do love all 3 but the first one is always the best and I've not laughed so much at a comedy film in years and that films is The Hangover.

Happiest Days Of Your Life (The).
Made nearly seventy years ago - but this prequel to the St Trinian's series is still one of the genuinely funniest films ever.

Oooooh, great shout, Downy.
Some serious food for thought right there.

Indeed so. Highlander is on my shortlist. I haven't seen it for years and I imagine it's not aged well, but I watched it loads as a kid. Brilliant film.
"I am Connor MacLeod of the Clan MacLeod. I was born in 1518 in the village of Glenfinnan on the shores of Loch Shiel. And I am immortal."
What a line!

Right, revision time (Sandy, please let my previous statement be stricken from the record)....
Mentions for:
Hooper
Hard Rain (A superb idea that just worked so well, plus it had Morgan Freeman in it too.)
Hamburger Hill
High Fidelity with the totally brilliant John Cusack.
Also - and very close to being my choice - is the totally over the top Hot Fuzz, just sheer 'Cornetto' brilliance from Pegg and Frost!
However, thanks to Downy reminding of this brilliant piece of cinema, my vote goes to 'Highlander'.

good shout on 'hooper' gazz. i loved that in the late 70's, then 'hawk the slayer' in 1980 or so. 'henry: portrait of a serial killer' remains one of the grimmest things i've ever seen - a blank where its heart should be; but then that's kind of the point with a psychopath. the final shots in particular leach all the joy out of the world. 'high plains drifter' is a harsh and spooky western. not the greatest week, and i'm going for 'hitchhikers guide to the galaxy' as it's a film i can switch my brain off and just enjoy, with an immensely likeable cast, and lots of stupidity. rickman's voice is great for marvin the paranoid android!
