Welcome to EP for our FA Trophy First Round-proper match against Ossett Town.
To my shame, I did have to Google where Ossett is for this article as Geography is not my strong point. This isn’t intended to disrespect any Ossett fans reading the programme as I’ve also had to search for Ebbsfleet, Forest Green and Braintree since we entered the Conference. Anyway, welcome to all Ossett fans who have made the trip from West Yorkshire and here’s hoping you enjoy EP...but leave empty handed!
County Heaven is as busy as ever. Our resident ‘other sports’ pundit, Gazza, has been keeping us posted on all things darts and F1, while Lennie seems to be playing golf every week so if you’re partial to a round you’ll find a friend there.
Our older members have been reminiscing about the Sinclair ZX81 (ask your parents) and the ‘Football-related films you’d pay to see’ thread has now passed 2,500 posts. I know. Personally, I think we should have stopped after my ‘Erik Bakke To The Future’.
I’ll let Maccy tell you about our trip to FGR. I’m still suffering from the curry I had to eat as a forfeit for being furthest away from guessing the attendance, and also Captain Beefheart’s interesting karaoke!

Well, the trusty Macc-mobile clocked up over 400 miles in round journeys over the last two weekends. No County points to show for it, as you will know by now, unfortunately - although one saving grace so far as the Forest Green trip was concerned took the form of some very acceptable pre- and post-match food and liquid refreshment at a Cotswolds pub where Jilly Cooper is a regular (she never did turn up on the day, mind...). Nuneaton town centre, by contrast, only appeared to offer a McDonald’s in the early evening. I drove straight home from there...
All things considered, then, it’s good to be back watching County in SK3. Would a repeat this afternoon of the sparkling performance under the floodlights against Barrow do nicely? Of c-Oss ett would! (sorry, couldn’t resist.)
Let us end with honourable mentions for two Connors. Warm congratulations to Joe C for getting the nod at the recent North West Football awards as BSP Player of the Year. And an equally warm welcome to C Jennings who has joined on a month’s loan from Scunthorpe. Almost precisely a year ago today, the latter scored with an exquisite chip against County while playing for Stalybridge. The County faithful would certainly take him to their hearts should he do likewise for the home side today!
Enjoy the game.
