yeah, at least when i received a helping hand to get out of the mud i was facing out and relatively near the front of the queue. i think there were a couple of hundred more in attendance on saturday than there were on the previous two rescheduled night games - it did seem a bit busier than before.
it was the wind that made it so cold. the sunny start to the second half seemed a bit disingenuous of the weather given that it was still so horribly cold. that said, corby in december was worse - that was a proper wind tunnel.

A-R-S said "We must not be complacent that relegation is out of the question - we are at this point 14th and while its great to see jim making the changes he needs it is also essential we get to at least 52 points ( my estimation not a calculated fact) to remain in this division."
I Don't think 52 points is a realistic target nor do I think it necessary. That number of points would make it reasonably safe with a league of 24 teams and as there are only 22 teams in the Vanarama League North a more realistic target would be somewhere between 46 and 48 points. 4 wins from our remaining games should secure our current status IMO. However, we all hope we do better than that!

it was stu that said that, halfa. i agree with you in that i'd certainly expect 48 to be enough. that said, i'd like to see us well into the fifties - we deserve some more fun out of the season, even if it's getting a bit meaningless.

We didnt see the same flowing football we saw when we played Crewe in the CS Cup, but as already mentioned the pitch at BPA was sodden. They had more of the midfield and Mr Colley really should have scored at least once. Menagh and O'Hanlon had the best chances. I was surpised to see Brodie replaced by Big Kay, just thought maybe Obi should have come off. The icy wind didnt help either and a draw was probably about right.

Just as a little side-note, Lamin did in fact score today in BPAs 3-1 win over FCUM!

Despite how dire the game was on Saturday, I felt quite pleased with a point - given Avenue's good home record.
Last night's result there puts ours in an even more decent perspective.

yeah i thought it was an alright point not to get beaten on a bad pitch against a side with a good home record. purely on that basis, it was reasonably decent.
however, the sensory horror of sitting there in the freezing wind, the mostly dreadful football and the worst collection of songs from opposition fans since 'the pride of all europe' (FCUM) visited edgeley park, made the experiencing of it a different proposition altogether.

You really need to start your own blog, ars. I say that because like Sandy, you have a seriously sharp writing style! Either that, or start writing articles for football sites. You're seriously on the ball, mate.

cheers gazz. it's the sort of thing that i would kind of like to do, but i enjoy the indiscipline of just banging a short para* on here, so that keeps me satisfied! *immediately as i typed it, i had a visualisation of a very different 'banging a short para', just before you or anyone else points it out gazz
