Was never one of my favourites but a talented guy who was never pigeon-holed.
Not afraid to re-invent himself and take a whole new direction. Didn't even know he was ill.
RIP Ziggy.

Heroes is my favourite song of his, but I might have to watch Labyrinth again too. What a soundtrack. Great minds! 'As The World Falls Down' is just one of the brilliant Bowie tracks that seemed to have been lost within that CD, his work on that soundtrack was fantastic, as was the Score itself by Trevor Jones. It's a brilliant soundtrack CD.

Here's a real old gem from Bowie, from his Deram years. Some Bowie fans really hate his early Anthony Newley influenced stuff, but I love it. So much so, that I have a copy of the 'Deram Anthology' CD somewhere which I'm going to dig out. Somebody posted this on Youtube to mark his 65th birthday, if only we could still be looking forward to his 70th:

Excellent, Gaz-man.
And one last clip from me, at the end of a sad day... my fave BBC session:

Brilliant, Maccy!
Bowie's portfolio really is without equal, I bet even Dylan had the odd moment of envy.

Absolutely gutting news, like the Beatles or the Stones, Bowie really was timeless and I like to think it's of comfort to his family and friends than in 50 years time, there will be kids listening to him for the first time and getting the same feelings and enjoyment from his music that I did and those before me did.

Agreed mate!
In one way or another, David Bowie will outlive every one of us!
Whatever Gods reason for taking all of these legends recently, he's sure as hell planning a Gig for the ages up there!

Whatever Gods reason for taking all of these legends recently, he's sure as hell planning a Gig for the ages up there! The term 'Supergroup' wouldn't quite cut it for those already at the soundcheck for that gig, 'Masters of the F**KING Universe' would be far more appropriate! I just hope he's done adding names to that bill for a while.

Going back to this thread in the cold light of the morning, I am loving its various clips and words as a composite tribute. Thanks to all who contributed.
Macc Junior and I have spent breakfast playing all the songs on it, and then added this one - runner-up in the B-category for Heaven's CHUMS compilation, no less... and my fave Bowie chart smash-hit.
And now, we shall probably be late for school. Oops!

Really sad news that I don't think anyone saw coming, although Lazarus and the video turns out to be his way of letting us all know.
There are loads of songs I like, but I've never been a collector for some reason.
My favourite track is probably this one. I just love the energy and the historical snapshot of rock - glam - punk. It shows in just a few minutes the truly monumental impact he had on music.

Ha - yes... well, it should have been! Just worrying a tad now about what to do when Junior comes home, and tells me that homework is bringing him down...

From 'Black Tie White Noise', this album was a bit 'Marmite' for Bowie fans, but it's just another example of Bowie's unique ability and willingness to change with and adapt to the times:
Apologies for the large amount of posts, but this guy really has left a hole.
